Geno Smith Fantasy Football Outlook: Should You Draft Smith in Fantasy Football?

Alisha breaks down why she loves Geno Smith for fantasy football this season.

With the NFL season starting next week, and a huge smile on my face that you can’t see, I want to talk about one of my favorite sleeper QBs. I may be biased because Geno was in my DFS Milly Maker lineup last season, but he was only 1.87% owned. With the season he was having, it seemed like a no-brainer.

Geno finished last season QB5, averaging 17.9 fantasy points per game. He threw for 4,282 yards and 30 TDs, leading the NFL in completion percentage of 69.8%. Smith won the Comeback Player of the Year award. Yet, with all that said, Geno is still being drafted as the 16th QB off the board heading into 2023.

Seattle added rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba to their already dynamic receiving team, featuring Tyler Lockett, DK Metcalf, and Noah Fant. They also added rookie RB Zach Charbonnet, who is a capable receiving back that they intend to give an immediate role in the backfield with Kenneth Walker III.

Some say last year was a one-hit wonder with Smith, but he returns to the same team, with the same offense piloted by offensive coordinator Shane Waldron, with more weapons. Seattle has a difficult schedule, but Geno is the man to get it done. I trust that he will post another top-five fantasy QB finish this season. Luckily, we don’t have to pay anywhere near that price to draft him, making him one of the steals of the draft. I am confident in drafting him, and you should be too.
