Week 10 is here, and it’s time to focus on the playoff run. I think we can safely examine each of our teams and assess where they are, and begin to set up a playoff run and get ready for those playoffs. This is where the redraft game is quite different than the dynasty game, as being in a position to get into the playoffs is critical.
Danger Family
This team lost two points last week, mainly because I got bold with the team trying to chase points. Streaming QBs and TEs can lead to point chasing, and I definitely did it and paid the price. I dropped Dart to pick up Kyler with a plus Monday night matchup against the Cowboys; however, once Kyler was ruled out, I switched to Brissett, and with only a one-week game, that was fine. Still, I find myself with a problem in week 10 since I couldn’t get Dart, even though I put in a claim for him as my first choice. I’ll start Aaron Rodgers against the Chargers this week, but I’m really hoping a QB falls to me for the playoffs. My record is now 15-3, which keeps me in first place; however, it’s only by total points, so I need to keep winning and prepare for a tough week 14 matchup against the second seed, who also has a 15-3 record. I currently have five bench spots used for RBs, with the last spot allocated to Pearsall, who I’ve been moving to IR on game day. I start three WRs here, all through the bye weeks, so planning to keep starting RBs in the two flex spots means I don’t really need more WRs unless there’s an injury. I don’t like to look too far ahead, but I do prepare a bit so I know what obstacles I might face without injuries to my starters. I’m currently starting Vidal, who I know could be phased out without injury, so I’m always looking to strengthen my bench at WR and RB. This week, I face the sixth seed, so the game should be very close, and the opponent will likely take chances with his lineup to try to gain ground. I’ll stay consistent with this team and just try to score above the median. Looking ahead, I have the third, twelfth, and fourth seeds, with the second seed also in my path, so I control my destiny; however, it’s crucial to keep putting up strong scores.

This team looks like it may be the only redraft team I have not made it to the postseason as the record dropped to 1-8. This team began with a full bench of QB’s, but as the season progressed, it actually came down to 4 QBs as the injury bug set in. Many people thought I drafted them to trade, but actually, they were the best players available. Some great things happened that show how patient the league was in not making moves; however, it did put me in a position to make the playoffs with a 7-7 record. Coming into today, I am only 3 games out with 5 to go, so 1 more point (it was on the bench) with a 2-7 record, this team could make it to the playoffs, as I’m now in a position to simply alter the playoff picture. I currently have a projection to beat the #1 seed this week, as I consistently used waiver priority to get WRs and RBs while everyone else was forced to use their priority to cover QBs. I did lose Joe Burrow, my first-round pick, which sets a team back every year when injury takes out your first pick. I also look back and drafted Treveyon with my 3rd-round pick. I don’t regret McBride in the 2nd, but getting to the 4th round with only McBride as a starter puts the team at a disadvantage from the jump, using any draft plan. I’m committed to changing the playoff setup, stringing some wins together so I can set up this league for the draft next year. This team has 5 weeks to play, so I’ll simply play hard and, like the NFL, put together some good tape.
Clown Head Redraft I
This team has hit a tough patch in the season, but with a 7-2 record, it’s solely the 2nd seed and on pace for a first-round bye. First place is one game ahead, and third place is one game behind. The matchup between the 1st and 3rd seeds this week will help clarify the top of the standings. I actually have a tough bye week with Lamb and Javonte having their byes. Since this league starts 4 WRs, losing Lamb is quite challenging. I’m trying to string together wins to get this team to week 15 off and secure a spot in the semi-finals.
Week 10 is a crucial time to focus on getting teams into the playoffs and to be active on the waiver wire throughout the week. I’m proud to report that 11 out of 12 redraft leagues are on track to make the playoffs, and in the three total points leagues, one team is in the top spot while others are in 6th and 7th place, so we need to finish in the top 3 to earn a spot in the money. Good luck as you join me on the playoff journey.
