It’s that time of the week when we look at which defenses stepped up and which others fell after Week 7 in the NFL. That means we could have some new teams on our NFL Defense Power Rankings, so let’s get to it. Have a great day, everyone, and may the tackles be with you.
Week 8 NFL Defense Power Rankings

1. Cleveland Browns: 256.1 Total Yards Against
The Browns have dethroned the Falcons from the number one spot after beating the Dolphins pretty badly. This week, they look forward to a defensive matchup against the Patriots.
2. Atlanta Falcons: 265.2 Total Yards Against
The Falcons lost the number one spot after playing the Bills and the Niners after their bye week. This week, they get a chance to take back that spot when they play the Dolphins.
3. Denver Broncos: 273.1 Total Yards Against
The Broncos are third this week after four sacks and an interception against the Giants. This week they’ll be playing the Cowboys, who could hurt their rank on this list, but you can bet the Broncos will try to not let that happen.
4. Houston Texans: 274.2 Total Yards Against
The Texans left Monday Night with a bad taste in their mouth after losing to the Seahawks. Even though they scored a touchdown on defense and had two interceptions, two fumble recoveries, and two sacks, their offense couldn’t muster anything.
5. Kansas City Chiefs: 280.3 Total Yards Against
The Chiefs showed why they’re a great team by shutting out the Raiders last week. This week they get a Jayden Daniels-less Commanders, who should be no match for the Chiefs.

6. Green Bay Packers: 288.5 Total Yards Against
The Packers had their hands full with the Cardinals last week but still recorded six sacks and a fumble recovery on their way to a victory. This week they get to visit Pittsburgh to pay the Steelers and their former franchise quarterback, Aaron Rodgers.
7. Carolina Panthers: 295.7 Total Yards Against
The Panthers continue to impress people defensively and have a huge test this week against the Bills. Even though they recorded six sacks and two interceptions against the Jets, they will be hard-pressed to do that against Josh Allen.
8. Detroit Lions: 300 Total Yards Against
The Lions have a bye week this week after showing the Buccaneers who the big shot is in the NFC. They not only sacked Baker Mayfield four times, but they also forced two turnovers that helped them hold the Bucs under 10 points.
9. Minnesota Vikings: 301.7 Total Yards Against
The Vikings defense got torched by the Eagles passing game last week, which hurt their ranking this week. However, with a huge Thursday Night Football game against the Chargers, they’ll be looking to lock them up and continue their dominance.
10. Seattle Seahawks: 305.9 Total Yards Against
The Seahawks have a bye this week after dismantling the Texans last week. So they can enjoy a coffee or whatnot while they enjoy their time off.

11. New England Patriots: 312.9 Total Yards Against
The Patriots started out sluggish last week before they powered themselves past the Titans. This week, they’ll be facing the number one defense in the Browns, so you can bet it’s going to be a low-scoring game.
12. Los Angeles Rams: 314.1 Total Yards Against
The Rams are another team that needed a bye, and they got one this week. After going across the pond and waxing the Jaguars, they practically get another bye week when the Saints come to Los Angeles.
13. Los Angeles Chargers: 315.9 Total Yards Against
The Chargers have been up and down defensively, but are currently on a bit of a slide. However, with the Vikings coming to Tinseltown, you can expect them to lock horns with another team that’s desperate for some wins, just like them.
14. San Francisco 49ers: 317.4 Total Yards Against
The Niners are heading to Houston this week to face the incompetent Texans for week 8. After shutting down the Falcons last week, they’re looking to take advantage of the bad quarterback play of Michael Penix by recording their first interception of the year.
15. Buffalo Bills: 323.5 Total Yards Against
The Bills face the Panthers this week, who will be without their starting quarterback, Bryce Young. With the Red Rocket manning the snaps, you can expect the Bills to have an easy day against Andy Dalton.

16. New York Jets: 326.4 Total Yards Against
This week has been a train wreck for the Jets, even though they’re finally getting some players back from injury. However, after Woody Johnson’s comments, it makes you wonder if anyone wants to play for this team.
17. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 328 Total Yards Against
After losing to the Lions, the Buccaneers slipped a little after Jared Goff laid the hammer down on them. This week, they get a better matchup against the Saints.
18. Las Vegas Raiders: 328.6 Total Yards Against
The Raiders got shut out against the Chiefs, but at least they get to lick their wounds this week because they’re off. When they come back for week nine, they’ll be facing the Jaguars, who are a complete mess like them.
19. New Orleans Saints: 335.7 Total Yards Against
The Saints are in the middle of a lot of trade rumors right now, with Alvin Kamara’s name being thrown around like some bad jumbo. However, the defense has done its best this season despite getting very little help from the offense.
20. Arizona Cardinals: 335.7 Total Yards Against
The Cardinals finish off the list this week at 20 after fighting tooth and nail to stay on this list. The Cardinals defense has been good this year, but they could definitely use some help on the backend since they can’t stop a nose bleed in the secondary.
