The Green Bay Packers can sum up the 2024 season in one word, and that’s third. The Packers finished third in the NFC north even with an 11-6 record, which could have won other divisions in the NFL. However, playing against one of the league’s best teams and most potent offenses in the same division didn’t help. The Packers shouldn’t be downtrodden, though, because they have a young team that not only can produce points but defend against them as well. With a roster like this, you can go far into a season. However, they’ll never win a Super Bowl if they can’t stay healthy or find more consistency at wide receiver.
QB:
Jordan Love
Jordan Love, in some ways, took a step back even though he played two fewer games. Regardless, Love still put up great numbers by accumulating 3,389 passing yards with 26 total touchdowns. He kept his mistakes down this year, going from 13 turnovers to 11 while playing fewer games. Going into year five, Love is determined to stay healthy and contend for a division title this year.
RB:
Josh Jacobs
Josh Jacobs almost seemed like the light version of his former self as he began the season with only two touchdowns in his first seven games as a Packer. After that, he turned on his inner LaDainian Tomlinson by scoring 14 touchdowns in the final 10 games. This made him a god going into the fantasy football playoffs, leading to many fantasy football championships for a lot of people.
WR:
Unlike my other articles and focusing on one or two wide receivers, I wanted to focus on the entire group. Jayden Reed is the first name that will pop up since he was the most productive wide receiver. He also was the healthiest this season, but with Jordan Love missing a few games, the passing game did suffer with Malik Willis. For me, Christian Watson seemed lost at times, and he seems like he could be the odd man out this year with the emergence of Dontayvion Wicks. That leads to Romeo Doubs, who is Love’s favorite target between the twenties. Every time Love needed a guy to step up, Doubs was there, but one thing that plagued all of the Packers’ wide receivers was injuries this year. If they can all stay healthy this coming year, you’ll see their numbers improve across the board
Defense:
The Packers defense has a lot to hang their hats on last year, ranking fifth in the league in total defense. Under Jeff Hafley, the Packers opponents average 19.9 points per game, which was sixth overall. They ranked seventh in sacks last year, which also led to being third in the league for interceptions. Overall, the Packers were a great team in a division full of offensive juggernauts.
Coaching:
Matt LaFleur
With a regular season record of 67-33 and a playoff record of 3-5, Matt LaFleur has brought dominance back to Lambeau Field. Also, LaFleur has a 32-9 record at home, giving him a .780 win percentage that keeps one of football’s most loyal fan base happy. Going forward, LaFleur will need to address the inconsistency of his wide receivers, or he’ll continue to be third in the division no matter what his record is. This is what has led to some of the fans calling for him to be fired or replaced, but as of right now, LaFleur will be back for the 2025 season, and rightfully so.
