Here are my bold predictions for the 2025 NBA draft:
San Antonio Drafts Dylan Harper at #2

There has been speculation suggesting San Antonio packagesthe #2 and #14 picks, but their best route is continuing to build through the draft. Selecting the Rutgers guard adds depth to their young roster, and Harper will ultimately be part of the rotation next season. De’Aaron Fox is up for a max contract, but San Antonio could leverage a max offer with their backcourt featuring Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper for the foreseeable future.
Philadelphia Selects Derik Queen at #3

The 76ers can go several ways, but shock the basketball world by drafting Maryland’s Queen third overall. Joel Embiid’s health is always questionable, and Queen will bring a young big to Philadelphia that can dribble, pass, shoot, and rebound.
Charlotte Lands Ace Bailey at #4

The Rutgers wing will be a gift to the Hornets. Compared to Anthony Edwards, Bailey immediately becomes a starter and the rookie of the year favorite with Charlotte. Charlotte will finally have a playmaking option opposite LaMelo Ball.
Khaman Maluach to New Orleans at #7 & Wins Rookie of the Year

New Orleans has a talented roster, but health is its major issue. Drafting Duke’s Maluach will bring the Pelicans one of the draft’s best big men and allows them to hedge any early-season injury Zion Williamson faces. Expect Maluach to start day one and proceed to win Rookie of the Year.
Tre Johnson Falls to Chicago at #12

The NBA draft is a crap shoot after the first few picks, and the 2025 draft will see Chicago land one of the draft’s best players in Tre Johnson. The 6’6” Texas guard is the ideal fit for the Bulls and will be the next superstar to feature at the United Center. Johnson can score at all levels, and his deep range fills a void on Chicago’s roster.
