I’ve gone over the best values in fantasy football, but these guys are the opposite. And if you were unlucky enough to draft them, it was probably a really, really long season.
C.J. Stroud, QB, HOU
Stroud had a sensational rookie year but slumped hard in Year 2. He tossed just 19 TDs to 12 interceptions as the Texans offense regressed. He was going as high as Round 5 in fantasy drafts but finished at a miserable QB19.
Christian McCaffrey, RB, SF
McCaffrey was the unanimous No. 1 overall pick in fantasy football but played in just four games due to Achilles tendinitis and a torn PCL. To make matters even worse, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan hid McCaffrey’s early-season injuries from the media, blindsiding fantasy owners and ruining teams.
Breece Hall, RB, NYJ
Big things were expected of Hall, especially with Aaron Rodgers returning to the starting lineup. But the Jets offense performed terribly all season long, and backups Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis vultured carries. Hall was a top-3 draft pick in many leagues and finished as just the RB16.
Travis Etienne, RB, JAX
Like Hall, Etienne struggled because of a bad offense (the Jaguars) and a backup stealing his work (Tank Bigsby). But it affected him far more adversely – going as a second-round pick, Etienne finished as the RB38 – making him an absolutely horrendous draft choice.
Tyreek Hill, WR, MIA
One of the league’s best wide receivers was M.I.A. in Miami for a large portion of the season. With Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa missing several games due to injury, Hill’s production fell off a cliff. Drafted as a top-5 pick, Hill finished as the WR18, a massive disappointment.
