Over the years, the WWE has given us many different PPVs, some of which are more important than others. Nowadays, the WWE has split many of those gimmick matches into full PPVs like this one. We’ve seen some iconic cash-ins as well as some horrible failures. Regardless, the wrestler who has the briefcase always has a massive advantage over the champion unless they ask for a survival match. That is where I thought this list should be fun to do, since these iconic briefcases help determine who the next push is for, sometimes. That sometimes being Otis, who I don’t care for and never understood why they even made this happen. So let’s take a walk down memory lane as we reveal some of the best-looking briefcases ever.
The Green Briefcase
This briefcase may have been simple in its design, but that green and gold made it feel special. It debuted in 2018 and had notable winners like previously released Bron Strowman and Otis, who lost it to the Miz in a match. I didn’t like that he won it anyway,y so I was cheering for the Miz that day.
Damien Sandow’s Briefcase
When Damien Sandow won the Money in the Bank match in 2013, he quickly changed the design to fit his character. Even though this briefcase had a unique design, it wasn’t lucky since he didn’t win the World Heavyweight Championship when he cashed it in.
The White Briefcase
Now, this briefcase is just straight snazzy, and it should be since it’s the ladies’ briefcase. Sporting that clean white with green lettering, this briefcase is one of the most notable designs the WWE has ever created.
The Gold Briefcase
In 2014, the WWE debuted the gold briefcase, which is always linked to Seth Rollins and his run with the Authority. Now that Seth is aligned with Paul Heyman, you can expect him to regain his World Heavyweight Championship title within time. That could start this June 7th, as Seth will most likely be one of the participants in this year’s Money in the Bank match.
The WrestleMania Briefcase
This briefcase debuted at WrestleMania 25 and was last used the next year at WrestleMania 26. It was won by C.M. Punk and Jack Swagger, and then retired.
Mr. Kennedy’s Briefcase
I used to love watching Mr. Kennedy while he was in the WWE, and even though he is now known as Mr. Anderson, I still dig his style. This briefcase’s design was simply awesome, with the back-to-back Ks to the microphone in the middle; this one stands out as one of the best.
C.M. Punk’s Briefcase
You were sorely wrong if you thought C.M. Punk would design his briefcase the way he wanted. Punk eventually cashed in on Edge and won the World Heavyweight Championship. What is unique about this briefcase was the addition of the Chicago flag, which has become synonymous with many of Punk’s designs over the years.
The Rated-R Briefcase
This briefcase is simple badass, and the Rated-R Superstar, Edge, now Adam Copeland, wouldn’t have it any other way. Not only is Adam one of my favorite wrestlers ever, but it also led to him winning another championship, which I didn’t mind. Adam deserved this since he was part of so many storylines back then, including his feud with John Cena.
RVD’s Spray Painted Briefcase
This briefcase sits atop many lists, but I decided not to do rankings for this article. However, this briefcase is simply rad and led to Rob Van Dam winning the WWE Championship after defeating John Cena at 2006’s One Night Stand. This moment is forever etched in time, from the match to the iconic poster that reads, “If Cena wins, we riot.”
The Boombox Briefcase
When Brock Lesnar won the MITB match in 2019, no one thought he would care enough to change the briefcase design. Instead, he came up with the Boombox Briefcase and started acting like my friends and I back in the late 80s and early 90s. Brock was walking around bumping away until he saw his opportunity, in which he cashed in on Seth Rollins at Extreme Rules in 2019.
