Top MLB Prop Picks 3/29
Cristian Javier LESS Than 5.5 Strikeouts
Javier failed to reach five innings in any spring outing. The Yankees are a disciplined team at the plate; they do strikeout, but they make pitchers work and draw a lot of walks, which leads to high pitch counts. Javier will be lucky to get through five innings in this game, and it will limit his strikeout upside. He reached six Ks just one time in his five spring outings and had four or fewer Ks in his other four appearances.
Ronald Acuna Jr. MORE Than 0.5 Runs
Acuna is matchup-proof. So even though he is facing a perennial CY Young award candidate in Zack Wheeler, you shouldn’t be scared off. He was the best player in the National League last year, and he hits leadoff for one of, if not the best, lineups in baseball. This is a bet that I would make every day and feel confident about hitting on it 70% of the time. To give you some perspective, he scored 149 runs in 159 games last season.
Logan Allen MORE Than 5 Strikeouts
After what we saw last night from the A’s lineup, it’s hard to imagine a scenario where they don’t strike out double-digit times tonight. Nine different A’s hitters went down on strikes last night, and although Allen isn’t a big-time strikeout pitcher, he has good stuff and averages around a K per inning, even against good teams. This is more of a play based on his matchup, though, which is excellent.
Joe Musgrove LESS Than 5.5 Strikeouts
Musgrove really struggled this spring and in his first start of the season during the Seoul series. He didn’t pitch enough during Spring Training either, and I believe he needs more time before actually being ready to pitch in big league games against big league opponents. He hasn’t topped 5 Ks in any of his outings in 2024, and it doesn’t look like that is going to change tonight. He will be lucky to get through five innings in this game based on what we have seen from him so far this year.
