FSGA Champions League Fantasy Football Experts Draft Review
On Monday, July 13 I had the opportunity to compete in the FGSA Champions League draft. It’s a PPR league made up of 14 teams, and starting lineups are: 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, TE, Flex, K, D. I had the tenth pick, and the draft was 16 rounds.

Round by Round analysis of my picks:
Round 1: RB James Cook, Bills–Running backs always fly off the board early in this league and with 14 teams I didn’t want to wait until Round 4 to take my first one like I did last year. Cook is the bell cow for a Buffalo offense that is primed and ready to compete for the AFC Championship under Joe Brady.
Round 2: RB Kenneth Walker III Chiefs–It came down in my mind to either A.J. Brown or Kenneth Walker and the choice was made for me when Joey Wright from Football Guys took Brown. I wasn’t disappointed in the least as Walker is the new bell cow for Kansas City and starting my draft with two alpha RBs sets me apart from my competition.
Round 3: WR Ladd McConkey, Chargers–There was no doubt I was going to take a WR in this round. Even better was that I knew that other teams needed to take their RBs, so a good receiver was pretty much going to fall in my lap. High stakes players really seem to like Emeka Egbuka so it did not shock me to see Billy Muzio take him before me. I was more than happy to take McConkey who I think will thrive in Mike McDaniel’s offense.
Round 4: WR Luther Burden III, Bears–I was glad to see Joey Wright take Colston Loveland (I prefer to wait on tight end) as it left me with Burden who seems to be a favorite of Ben Johnson. Burden will likely be the WR1 in Chicago and between him and McConkey I feel like I will get 25-30 points a week.
Round 5: WR Christian Watson, Packers–I was eyeing Watson from the beginning of the 5th round and was a little shocked that he made it to me at 5.10. Watson has had a hard time staying off the training table in previous seasons, but when healthy he is a difference maker.
Round 6: QB Justin Herbert, Chargers–Those of you who have followed me for years know that I like to wait on taking my QB. However, the one caveat is when I am in a 14 team league–I will take one earlier than usual due to its importance. I thought about pairing Caleb Williams with Burden, but instead took Herbert who could have a career year under McDaniel. As I said on SiriusXM, “Going from Greg Roman to Mike McDaniel at OC is like going from Spam to Ribeye.”
Round 7: RB Jonathon Brooks, Panthers–Brooks is supposedly healthy and should be the clear RB2 in Carolina. I can afford to take the shot on him considering I already have two monsters in Cook and Walker. If healthy, Brooks could end up being the RB1 for Carolina.
Round 8: WR Quentin Johnston, Chargers–Was this me being greedy going for the full Chargers stack? Maybe, but I am fully committed to the Chargers passing attack and Johnston had a breakout 2025.
Round 9: WR Jalen Coker, Panthers–I was either taking Rashid Shaheed or Jalen Coker with this pick and when Billy Muzio took Shaheed I clicked Coker’s name quickly. I love him to make a huge jump this season.
Round 10: TE Mark Andrews, Ravens–This pick came down to Andrews or Dalton Kincaid. I went with Andrews for two main reasons: 1) His BYE week is Week 13 so I don’t need to make any drops for a backup too early in the season and 2) I already have a few players on BYE in Week 7.
Round 11: RB Isiah Pacheco, Lions–Shame on Team 1 for not securing Gibbs’ backup. Pacheco might not be as good as he was in Kansas City, but there is a world where he scores 7-8 TDs.
Round 12: WR Isaac TeSlaa, Lions–TeSlaa came on at the end of last season and is one of my favorite later round receivers. His value would skyrocket if St. Brown and/or Jameson Williams got hurt.
Round 13: Def Los Angeles Rams–If one of the top defenses is on the board at this point, I need to take them. Plus there is no doubt in my mind that Aaron Donald will play this season.
Round 14: QB Jordan Love, Packers–I like having the Love to Watson hookup for when Herbert is on BYE.
Round 15: RB Kaelon Black, 49ers–Should emerge as the RB2 in San Francisco and it’s always possible that CMC might miss time.
Round 16: K Charlie Smyth, Saints–He’s got a big leg and kicks in a Dome.
Overall: I am thrilled with how my roster construction ended up. If I can stay healthy, the playoffs feel likely and if the Chargers are as good as everyone thinks, the sky is the limit!
