SS/OF Tyler Fitzgerald, San Francisco Giants (53%)
Sometimes, a player gets hot. Sometimes, a player gets really hot. However, what Tyler Fitzgerald is doing right now is something else entirely. He’s like Dr. Evil: “Liquid hot MAGMA” hot. Fitzgerald is riding a ten-game hitting streak in which he’s smacked eight of his nine home runs on the season and reeled in thirteen of his nineteen RBI. He’s now slashing .324/.390/.658(!!!) and deserves consideration in all formats now, especially considering his dual eligibility.
C Austin Wells, New York Yankees (43%)
Wells finally seems to be running away with the starting catcher job for the Yankees. One of the keys for him has been a return to form with his plate discipline. Over his past ten games, Wells has nine walks to just four strikeouts, which has allowed him to tap into his power frequently. Wells had just two home runs over the first half of the season and has five now in July alone. He makes for an excellent addition for teams needing a better catching option.
2B Connor Norby, Baltimore Orioles (41%
Norby is back up with the team, and this time, it looks like he might be here to stay. He promptly homered in his first game since being recalled and can provide both power and speed for fantasy owners for the rest of the season. He might not be an everyday player, but he should at least play most days based on his current trajectory, which is enough to warrant consideration in a formidable Orioles batting lineup. Norby was hitting a very strong .297/.389/.519 with 15 homers and 13 steals at AAA before his callup.
OF Victor Robles, Seattle Mariners (26%)
With Julio Rodriguez hurt, Robles is now consistently leading off for the Mariners. He has hits in eight of his past ten games, five being multi-hit performances. Robles has lifted his season slash to an impressive .302/.396/.430 with a couple of bombs and, most importantly, twelve steals already in the 86 at bats he’s had. He is a very good speed option and can be picked up in all formats for teams that have this need.
RP Lucas Erceg, Oakland Athletics (22%)
Mason Miller is out with a broken pinky finger on his non-throwing arm, so at least Erceg will be closing in the short term. He is a good reliever with solid peripherals and has already had a save since Miller went on the IL. Fantasy owners can feel good about scooping him if they need the saves, but they shouldn’t spend too much for what is most likely a short-term rental.
