This Weeks Record: 4-6-3
Last Weeks Record: 11-8
Past Three Weeks Record: 34-21-2
Tarik Skubal MORE than 6.5 Strikeouts
Even though he is facing a good Dodgers team tonight, my money is still on Skubal. He’s one of the best pitchers in MLB right now and one of the best strikeout pitchers as well. He has recorded seven or more strikeouts in each of his past four starts and struck out 13 Reds in his most recent outing.
Jonathan India MORE than 5.5 Fantasy Points
India has been playing great baseball lately and is hitting atop the Reds lineup. He has 10 multi-hit games in his past 18 overall and 15 XBH during that time. Tonight, he and the Reds face Yonny Chirinos, who has allowed 15 hits and six ER in his past 9.1 innings. The Marlins pitching staff is one of the worst in MLB this season as well, ranking 27th in ERA and WHIP and 25th in BAA. India is in a good spot tonight to do some damage.
Gerrit Cole MORE than 5.5 Strikeouts
Cole has struggled since coming off the IL. He missed nearly three months of the season, so it’s understandable that he has gotten off to a slow start. Although the ratios are still a disaster, he has started to resemble his usual self in the strikeout department, with six strikeouts against the Jays and eight against the Red Sox in his past two outings. Now that he is four starts into his season, he should be able to give more length in his starts as well, which should ultimately lead to more strikeouts, so the 5.5 number tonight seems well within reach for him.
George Springer MORE than 6.5 Fantasy Points
Springer’s numbers on the season look really bad for a player of his caliber. Do not be discouraged, though, as he has moved back into the lead-off spot at times for the Jays, and he’s been hot at the plate in his past 15 games. He has his safely in 12 of the 15, with six of those games being multi-hit efforts. He has also hit five HR and five doubles during the stretch, which is even more noteworthy when you consider that he had just five HR and nine doubles in his first 74 games. Tonight, he faces Ryne Nelson of the Diamondbacks, who has a 5.08 ERA and 1.46 WHIP this season.
