The week of Independence Day is upon us. This week will be filled with fireworks, cookouts, vacations, and parades. And unless you are in the thick of your fantasy league, vying for a championship, you’re zoned out. So this will be quick.

There are only a handful of games on Monday and even fewer viable starting pitchers to consider. There are only two pitchers to consider. Neither has even made 10 starts this year, but each has winning records. The picks are very slim this week.

Bryse Wilson-Milwaukee Brewers

Less than half of Wilson’s 19 appearances have been starts, only taking the bump for eight starts. He has been very effective lately, winning two out of his last three starts. He’s 5-3 during the season with a solid 1.23 WHIP and 3.89 ERA.

David Peterson-New York Mets

Peterson has only made five starts this season. He hasn’t lost yet, sporting a 3-0 record. And the team is 4-1 in his starts. His only negative is his WHIP, which is an elevated 1.48. But with only 27 innings under his belt, a solid start can lower that figure quickly. And his ERA is sitting at 3.69.

That’s it for this week; there isn’t much to choose from. But each of these pitchers can get you a couple of wins. These next few weeks are critical. Between the trade deadline approaching and the All-Star Game, finding two start pitchers moving forward until we get to August will be more difficult.

Snag who you can while you can because these next few weeks will be tough. Have a great holiday week. Enjoy the holiday with friends and family…and most importantly, stay safe.
