NFL Coaches On The Hot Seat After Week 7

Heading into Week 8, there are a few NFL head coaches whose jobs are in serious jeopardy due to poor performance, and complete failure to meet expectations. The following three head coaches are most likely to be fired by the end of the season if not sooner.

1. Mike McDaniel – Miami Dolphins

Mike McDaniel’s 2025 season has been disastrous. The Dolphins sit at 1–6 and look completely lost on offense despite McDaniel’s offensive reputation. McDaniel’s press conferences have become memes and are examples of his lack of clarity in vision. Tua Tagovailoa’s visible frustration with teammates highlights a locker room that seems to despise each other. Owner Stephen Ross has never been one to shy away from midseason firings, so McDaniel’s tenure could end before Halloween.

2. Aaron Glenn – New York Jets

Aaron Glenn’s debut as Jets head coach has gone about as poorly as possible. At 0-7, New York is the only winless team in the league. Glenn’s questionable calls have drawn national ridicule (benching Justin Fields has opened a recent quarterback controversy) and the locker room morale is hanging by a thread. Robert Saleh’s successful tenure as defensive coordinator in San Francisco only makes Glenn’s disastrous season look even worse. Glenn’s chances of surviving the Jets Week 9 BYE week appear extremely slim.

3. Brian Daboll – New York Giants

Brian Daboll narrowly avoided being fired after a three-win 2024, but he got a one-year reprieve and the offense has shown some punch with the additions of rookies Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo. However, the defense has been a complete disaster under Shane Bowen as has been the kicking game. Losing to Denver after being up 26-8 late in the second half just compounds Daboll’s reputation as a guy who cannot get the job done. The Giants don’t often fire coaches mid-season but Daboll could be the exception if they continue to lose close games.
