The NFL playoff picture is becoming clearer, with several teams having secured postseason berths and others still vying for the remaining spots. Here’s a breakdown of the current standings and scenarios after week 17.
AFC: 1. Kansas City Chiefs (15-1):
Clinched the AFC West division title and secured the No. 1 seed, granting them a first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
2. Buffalo Bills (13-3):
Clinched the AFC East division title and 2 seed.
3. Baltimore Ravens (11-5):
Clinched a playoff berth and currently lead the AFC North.
4. Houston Texans (9-7):
Clinched the AFC South division title.
5. Pittsburgh Steelers (10-6):
Secured a playoff berth.
6. Los Angeles Chargers (10-6):
Clinched a playoff spot with a recent win over the New England Patriots.
7. Denver Broncos (9-7):
Currently hold the final wild-card spot but have not yet clinched a playoff berth.
In The Hunt: 8 Seed:
Miami Dolphins
In The Hunt 9 Seed:
Cincinnati Bengals
NFC: 1. Detroit Lions(14-2):
It all comes down to week 18 against the Vikings for either the 5th seed or the first seed. Can their injured defense hold up?
2. Philadelphia Eagles (13-3):
Clinched the number 2 seed with their week 17 win.
3. Los Angeles Rams (10-6):
Have clinched the NFC West division thanks to the Commanders win.
4. Tampa Bay Bucs (9-7):
Leading the NFC South and can clinch the division title with a win next week OR a Falcons loss.
5. Minnesota Vikings (14-2):
It all comes down to week 18 against the Lions for either the 5th seed or the first seed. No one in the NFC is hotter right now.
6. Washington Commanders (11-5):
They clinched a playoff spot with a win over the Falcons on SNF and moved into the 6th seed. They could still end up in 7th seed, too.
7. Green Bay Packers (11-5):
In the playoffs, but the loss to MIN moved them to the 7th seed. They could still end up in 6th seed.
In The Hunt: 8th Seed
Atlanta Falcons (8-8)
Their only way in would be a win in week 18 and a Bucs loss in week 18 (NFC South division)
