There were two HUGE NFL trades today. Let’s take a closer look at how it affects all four teams and their rosters.
Las Vegas Raiders trade Davante Adams to the New York Jets:
Jets:
Adams immediately comes in and becomes the WR1 because he’s very close to Rodgers, and Rodgers is going to make sure that he’s fed the football. Garrett Wilson becomes the WR2, but I’m not worried about that because he’s going to have a much better matchup against the weaker cornerbacks. Allen Lazard will become the WR3 and will see targets since he’s tight with Rodgers, too. Mike Williams will likely get traded, or he will be droppable in most fantasy leagues as he loses tremendous value. I’m also slightly worried about Tyler Conklin losing targets. I would not drop Conklin yet, but I am looking for other options.
Raiders:
Jacobi Meyers is the clear WR1, and Tre Tucker is moving into the WR2 role. Meyers was the WR1 for the Patriots back in the day and is serviceable but not spectacular. Las Vegas really likes Tucker’s upside, and I think he can hold his own against most cornerbacks. DJ Turner will likely become the WR3, but he’s nobody that I would pick up. The biggest winner is Brock Bowers, who will become a target machine and could catapult into being the number one tight end in the league.
Cleveland Browns trade Amari Cooper to the Buffalo Bills:
Bills:
The Bills wisely realized that they needed a WR1 and went out and made a fantastic trade for Cooper. Cooper slides into the WR1 spot and will have great success with Josh Allen. Khalil Shakir will move into the WR2 spot, and Keon Coleman will become the WR3. I think this may help Coleman a little bit more as the Bills will be able to use him in situations and in routes that he was used to in college. I think that Curtis Samuel loses all value and can be dropped. Dalton Kincaid sees his value plummet, considering that Cooper’s got to be getting the most targets out there.
Browns:
This team is an utter mess. Nick Chubb is expected back in Week 7, and he’s going to garner at least 20 touches a game. Jerry Jeudy moves into the WR1 spot, Elijah Moore continues his role as the slot receiver and I think that Cedric Tillman becomes the other outside receiver. Tillman was a very good receiver at the University of Tennessee, but right now, with Deshaun Watson as the starter, there’s just not a lot of upside for any Browns receiver. In the deepest of leagues, you might want to take a shot at Jamari Thrash, who could emerge as a potential dynasty stash.
