The NFL is all about matchups, and when it comes to wide receivers, it is all about how the defensive coverages line up against them. Here are five WR/TE who should have really strong games based on the coverage scheme.

Zay Flowers, Ravens

The Giants like to roll out single high safety coverage, which Flowers loves to feast on. In fact, his numbers go up significantly against this type of coverage, especially as Lamar Jackson’s first read. If the game stays close, Flowers could bloom.

Courtland Sutton, Broncos

When the pocket is kept clean, Bo Nix is a much more accurate quarterback. Denver’s OL has a big advantage over Indianapolis’s DL, which means that Nix should be able to pick the Colts secondary apart. The Colts play a ton of Cover 3 defense, which Sutton loves, and he is the one Denver receiver who can be counted on for a full amount of snaps.

Ladd McConkey, Chargers

Tampa has allowed the second most yards per attempt to slot receivers (where Ladd normally plays), plus they play a ton of single high coverage, where Ladd shines. Justin Herbert missed McConkey terribly against the Chiefs; he won’t miss him this week as he will pepper him with targets.

T.J. Hockenson, Vikings

Don’t overlook Hockenson this week, as the Bears defense has been very generous to opposing tight ends (Trey McBride and George Kittle), and they play a ton of single high coverage where Hockenson thrives. Justin Jefferson might see a dip in his production which should benefit Hockenson immensely.

Amari Cooper, Bills

The Lions play the most man coverage in the league, as well as a tremendous amount of single-high coverage. Cooper is the Bills top target against this type of defense. In a game where 54.5 points are expected to be scored, Cooper will have a great chance to be part of the Bills success.
