Top MLB Prop Picks 4/18
Juan Soto MORE Than 0.5 Runs
Soto is enjoying tremendous success to begin his Yankees career. He is batting .352 with a .478 OBP and has come up clutch numerous times already. His ability to get on base and the fact that he hits in front of Judge, Rizzo, and Stanton gives him a high chance to score a run most nights. He has a good matchup tonight, too, facing Tyler Alexander and the Rays. Alexander has not been good this season. He has a 6.46 ERA and a 1.63 WHIP and has allowed five HR in his three starts. The Rays’ pitching staff overall has not been good either. They rank 26th in MLB in runs allowed per game and allow the second most HR in the league as well.
Spencer Turnbull MORE Than 5 Strikeouts
Turnbull has more than five strikeouts in two of his first three starts and is striking out more than one batter per inning. Tonight, he will face the White Sox, who are the worst team in MLB right now, so you have to like his chances to go five or six innings and rack up strikeouts throughout. I will say this: If the line moves up to 5.5 at any point, do not bet on the prop. I still believe he can record six Ks to win the prop, but the fact that it’s at five now and can be a push is the advantage that makes this a lock.
Ryan McMahon MORE Than 7 Fantasy Points
McMahon is having a monster season so far in 2024. He is batting .361 with a .434 OBP and has flashed extra-base hit power as well. He’s performed well both on the road and at home in Coors Field. Tonight, though, he will be in Coors, a hitter’s paradise, and he has a good matchup against a RHP and a pitcher who has struggled when pitching on the road: Emerson Hancock has a 7.98 ERA this season, and it’s his road numbers that have inflated that stat.
Bobby Witt Jr. MORE Than 0.5 Runs
I love me some Bobby Witt Jr., and I love it even more when I can bet him to score a run. Witt is one of the best power/speed players in all of MLB, and it leads to plenty of runs because not only can he drive himself in, but once he gets on base, he can put himself in scoring position. He’s batting .321 with a .369 OBP right now, so chances are he is getting on base tonight. It also helps Witt that Vinnie Pasquantino and Salvador Perez bat behind him and are both having strong starts to the season as well.
