This Weeks Record:
Last Weeks Record: 8-9-1
Past Ten Weeks Record: 101-76-8
Jackson Merrill MORE than 6 Fantasy Points
If not for a guy named Paul Skenes, Merrill would be the front-runner for NL ROTY. He has been exceptional for the Padres, and over the past 30 days, he has had his best stretch of the season. Since July 27th, Merrill is batting .304 with seven HR, 20 runs, 22 RBI, and two SB. He has at least one hit in nine of his past ten games, including a big walk-off HR yesterday against the Mets. Tonight, he faces Cardinals SP Kyle Gibson, who has a 4.23 ERA this season and a 1.36 WHIP.
Juan Soto MORE than 1.5 Total Bases
Soto has been on a serious power surge over the past two weeks. Since August 12th, he has seven HR, 11 runs, and 13 RBI. Even when he isn’t on a surge like this, Soto is generally a great bet most nights. He is batting .299 this season with a .429 OBP, 25 doubles, four triples, 37 HR and 140 hits. Hitting in front of the likely AL MVP candidate, Aaron Judge, certainly helps Soto as well, as he gets a lot of pitches to hit that he otherwise might not get if Judge wasn’t hitting behind him. Tonight, Soto and the Yankees will face Mitchell Parker, who has a 4.26 ERA and 1.25 WHIP this season.
Nick Pivetta MORE than 5 Strikeouts
Pivetta’s ERA is inflated this season, sitting at 4.70, entering his 21st start of the season. However, where Pivetta has excelled this season is striking batters out. He has 125 Ks in 105.1 innings this season, and over his past eight starts, Pivetta has struck out five or more batters in seven of them. He has struck out double-digit batters in three of those starts. He has a good matchup tonight against a young Blue Jays lineup that is free-swinging and undisciplined.
Brenton Doyle MORE than 7.5 Fantasy Points
Doyle is having a breakout season for the Rockies in 2024. He has 74 runs, 22 doubles, four triples, 21 HR, 63 RBI, and 25 SB. It is important to note that a lot of his damage comes at home in Coors Field, which is where he is playing tonight. In Coors this season, Doyle is batting .330 with a .386 OBP compared to his .218 and .282 on the road. His power/speed combo gives him an excellent chance to pick up a lot of fantasy points any given night, and he is in a good matchup here today, taking on Edward Cabrera, who has a 5.65 ERA and 1.47 WHIP this season.
