The NFL playoffs are here! It feels like the season flew by faster than ever before, and we will be treated to six great games this weekend and Monday. These eight teams have the best chance of making a deep playoff run, so without further ado, here are the Super Bowl power rankings.
8. Chicago Bears
Despite losing their two final games of the season, the Bears won the NFC North division and head into the playoffs as the number two seed in the NFC. They will host the Green Bay Packers, a team they beat just a few weeks ago and a team that has also limped into the playoffs since losing Micah Parsons. The Bears have proven all season long that they can beat anyone, any given week, and that they thrive in close games.
7. Houston Texans
They have gotten hot at the right time. After starting the season 0-3, the Texans have gone 12-2 in their past 14 games, and are the 5th seed in the AFC playoffs. CJ Stroud is playing good football, Woody Marks has become a legitimate NFL running back, and the defense is arguably the top unit in the entire league. This is not a team that anyone wants to see come playoff time, and their first opponent will be the Steelers.
6. New England Patriots
Is Drake Maye an MVP candidate? The answer is undoubtedly yes right now. He may lose out to Matthew Stafford, but it’s been an amazing season for Maye regardless. Maye is playing exceptional football, and head coach Mike Vrabel has this defense improving week after week as well. The Patriots are AFC East champions and the number two seed in the AFC. That will give them at least two home games in the playoffs, assuming they win their first-round matchup against the Chargers. The AFC is very balanced, though, so no matchup is going to be a cake walk.
5. San Francisco 49ers
This team has dealt with as many injuries as anyone, and although the defense is still missing pieces that they won’t get back this year, the offense has gotten back many of its key pieces. Since then, they have been on fire, with the exception of their week 18 loss to Seattle. They have a tough task, having to head to Philadelphia and take on the defending champs, but if they can come away with a win, there is no doubt that they could run the table.
4. Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles are the defending champs, and they have the experience and personnel to repeat as champions. Their offense is still trying to find its identity, but they can get hot at any time. The defense is playing at an elite level now, and now that it’s playoff time, they should be considered one of the favorites in the NFC. The offense is able to make plays when they have to, and they know what it takes to win the big games in the big moments.
3. Denver Broncos
Their ability to get after the quarterback and get sacks makes them dangerous. QB Bo Nix has shown the ability to put up huge points late in the game. The defense will always keep them in games, and Nix has learned what it takes to win now in his second year. They have won the AFC West and are the top seed in the AFC, which means they will get to play all their games at home on their road to the Super Bowl.
2. Seattle Seahawks
They are a great team, and they proved they can win a big game and come up clutch in a big moment after their win over the Rams in Week 16 and the 49ers in Week 18. Sam Darnold appears to be the answer for them at QB, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba is having a huge season. Their defense is very talented, but it’s also been inconsistent from week to week. When the defense plays up to expectations as it did against San Francisco in Week 18, it can compete with anyone.
1. Los Angeles Rams
Despite being a Wild Card team, the Rams are the best team on paper in the NFC. They have one of the top offenses in the league, and their defense has been excellent for most of the season. They can make a deep playoff run thanks to having a Super Bowl-winning QB and head coach. The biggest key for them will be making sure Puka Nacua and Davante Adams are both healthy for the playoffs.
