This Weeks Record: 3-3
Last Weeks Record: 8-11
Past Six Weeks Record: 56-43-5
Grayson Rodriguez MORE than 5 Strikeouts
Rodriguez is having a very good season for the first-place Orioles, and his strikeout numbers have been very consistent. He has recorded six or more strikeouts in seven of his past nine starts, and tonight, he faces a Blue Jays team that has thrown in the towel on this season. The Orioles pitching staff have been striking them out all series and that shouldn’t change today.
Clayton Kershaw MORE than 3 Strikeouts
Kershaw has only made one start this season, as he spent the first three and a half months of the season on the IL. That start came six days ago against the division rival Giants, and although he allowed two ER in only four innings of work, he did strike out six batters. He should be able to go deeper in his second start, which will allow him more opportunities for strikeouts. Even if the strikeouts are down in this start because the Padres are a better lineup than the Giants, this number of three is just too low to pass up on.
Alec Bohm MORE than 5.5 Fantasy Points
Bohm is one of the best hitters in one of the best lineups in MLB. He bats cleanup for the Phillies and has a great matchup against Nestor Cortes Jr. Cortes has struggled lately. He has allowed 15 ER in his past 13.1 innings, and the fact that he is a lefty only helps Bohm. The Phillies have lost the first two games of this series, but they should be able to salvage the series today with a high run total off Cortes, and Bohm should be right in the middle of the action.
Vinnie Pasquantino MORE than 6 Fantasy Points
He has been on fire lately for the Royals. He has at least one hit in nine of his past ten games, and five of those games have been multi-hit efforts. He and the Royals face Drew Thorpe and the White Sox today, which is an excellent matchup to be in. Thorpe was shelled in his most recent start, giving up eight ER and three HR in less than one inning. The White Sox, as a pitching staff, overall ranks 29th in the league in ERA, WHIP, and HR allowed.
