This is a breakdown of what each cup contender and teams with cup windows should be prioritizing this offseason:

Florida Panthers

Need: Re-sign UFA veterans (e.g., Bennett), bolster backup goaltender behind Bobrovsky, reinforce blue line depth 

Edmonton Oilers

Need: Commit to Evan Bouchard’s next contract, add secondary scoring and penalty kill specialists.

Toronto Maple Leafs

Need: Manage key UFAs (Marner, Tavares,) secure contract extensions, retool power play, and defensive robustness 

Tampa Bay Lightning

Need: Backup goalie, depth picks following early playoff exit; retain core contributors like Gourde, Santini 

Dallas Stars

Need: Add bottom-six scoring and playoff depth, especially after evaluation of top-six and defensive unit.

Colorado Avalanche

Need: Maybe less urgent, but with Cale Makar as Norris winner, consider adding secondary scorer to balance star-heavy forward corps
