UFC: Top 10 Fighters Right Now

1. Islam Makhachev: Islam Makhachev remains the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world. So, back to Rumorville, we go for the latest on Makhachev and the wonderful world of the UFC. The rumor I’m hearing is that Justin Gaethje may be his next opponent before Topuria. I’m fine whatever way they go because I just want to see Makhachev fight again.

2. Ilia Topuria:

Ilia Topuria hasn’t said much since last week about his next opponent; however, I’ll say thanks to the Spanish crew working Vegas 105 for this next bit. After Lerone Murphy’s fight they mentioned that Topuria vs Oliveira is coming soon. That was shut down immediately afterward, calling it a mistake on their end. Right.

3. Jon Jones:

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – NOVEMBER 16: Jon Jones of the United States of America reacts after his TKO victory against Stipe Miocic of the United States of America in the UFC heavyweight championship fight during the UFC 309 event at Madison Square Garden on November 16, 2024 in New York City. Jon Jones and his camp are playing games, and I’m getting messages for having him too high on my rankings. So Jones slips now since he’s laughing at all of u,s but no disrespect, Jones is a terror in the octagon. We may not like it, but until he retires or signs for a fight, we have to accept that Jones is that dawg.

4. Dricus Du Plessis:

PERTH, AUSTRALIA – AUGUST 18: Dricus Du Plessis of South Africa celebrates winning his fight against Israel Adesanya of Nigeria by submission during UFC 305 at RAC Arena on August 18, 2024 in Perth, Australia. (Photo by Paul Kane/Getty Images)

Dricus Du Plessis stays at fourth while gearing up for his next fight. The last I heard was that Du Plessis is most likely going to fight Khamzat Chimaev. Since then, Sean Strickland and Nassourdine Imavov have been brought up recently, but I still think the UFC is leaning towards Chimaev.

5. Merab Dvalishvili:

INGLEWOOD, CALIFORNIA – JANUARY 18: Merab Dvalishvili of Georgia reacts at the end of his bantamweight title fight against Umar Nurmagomedov of Russia, not pictured, during UFC 311 at Intuit Dome on January 18, 2025 in Inglewood, California. (Photo by Harry How/Getty Images)

Finally, Merab Dvalishvili vs. Sean O’Malley 2 has been announced for UFC 316 in Jersey on June 7th. After that first fight, I know a lot of us can’t wait to see this matchup go down again. Make sure you stay tuned in for the Fight Club of Pain that week for all of your UFC bets and DFS picks.

6. Belal Muhammad:

Belal Muhammad is still set to defend his title against Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 315. Barring any injuries or setbacks, this match is set in stone and proves why the UFC is one of the best brands in sports today. If you’re not watching the UFC right now, you are not entertained.

7. Magomed Ankalaev:

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – MARCH 08: Magomed Ankalaev of Russia reacts after defeating Alex Pereira of Brazil to win the Light Heavyweight Title during UFC 313 at T-Mobile Arena on March 08, 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Ian Maule/Getty Images)

Magomed Ankalaev has since settled into being the champion since defeating Alex Pereira. Ankalaev had said that the contract had been signed, and many feel that a rematch with Pereira is all but signed right now. Once it’s officially announced, you can bet that we’ll all be ready to see if Poatan can bring the pain this time around.

8. Tom Aspinall:

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND – JULY 28: Tom Aspinall of England looks on ahead of the interim UFC heavyweight championship bout against Curtis Blaydes of the U.S. during the UFC 304 event at Co-op Live on July 28, 2024 in Manchester, England. (Photo by Ben Roberts Photo/Getty Images)

Tom Aspinall still hasn’t heard a word about his fight with Jones, and honestly, I would move on for now. Of course, that isn’t going to happen because everyone wants Jones to be his next opponent. That means you should go grab yourself a subscription to Dr. Roto so that you have a lot of reading material while you wait.

9. Alex Pereira:

Alex Pereira looks like he’ll be getting a rematch with Magomed Ankalaev before moving up in weight or any other jazz you may be hearing right now. However, it’s not 100 percent set in stone, but from the rumblings I’m hearing, you can see this fight being announced by Dana White at some point in the near future.

10. Alexandre Pantoja:

Alexandre Pantoja waits in silence as the UFC tries to figure out his next opponent. So, like a lot of other fighters in this list, we’re waiting once again. However with them finally putting the card together for UFC 316, I wouldn’t be surprised if Pantoja ends up on that card or headlining UFC 317.
