SS Luisangel Acuna, New York Mets (51%)
Ronald Acuña’s little brother, Luisangel Acuña, was called up on September 14th. While he started off a tad slow over his couple of games, he’s now hitting .385/.407/.885 with eight hits in his last five games, three of which were balls he sent over the fence. Acuña is ironically known for his speed, so both home runs and steals are possibilities over this last week for owners who manage to snag him.
SP (RP) Luke Weaver, New York Yankees (47%)
The door was opened for Luke Weaver to close out games after Clay Holmes was removed from the role earlier in the month. Weaver has had three saves for the Yankees since the beginning of September and has yet to blow a save opportunity. While he has not officially been named the closer for New York, he looks up to the task. Weaver also has an incredible 20 strikeouts to a mere 3 walks in just 9.1 innings this month. Be sure to grab him if you’re looking for chances for an extra save or two over the final push.
C, 1B, OF Hunter Goodman, Colorado Rockies (31%)
Goodman has hit 5 homers over his past 10 games- one of which was a 3 hit, 2 homer, 7 RBI eruption. He has all home games to finish the season, so he is a great bet for those needing a last-minute power boost. The fact that you can stick him in at 1st base, outfield, and even catcher is an added bonus.
1B, OF Pavin Smith, Arizona Diamondbacks (22%)
Smith is hitting a roaring .327/.424/.755 since the start of September with 5 home runs. He plays virtually every day and exhibits the plate discipline and power that made him an intriguing fantasy option in the past. Owners who need power, especially those who can’t afford to fall in ratio stats, should give him a look.
2B, 3B, SS Jose Iglesias, New York Mets (19%)
Quietly but impressively, Iglesias is on a 15-game hitting streak right now. Even more impressive is the fact that eight of those games have been multi-hit performances. While he has only one home run and one stolen base over this stretch, he has also only struck out 6 times. His bat-to-ball skills are among the best in the game, and Iglesias can help any fantasy owners who need a boost in batting average and/or runs over this final week.
1B, 3B Eric Wagaman, Los Angeles Angels (4%)
An option in super deep leagues, Wagaman is at least getting a ton of at bats right now. His bat has started to heat up over the past week or so, with 11 hits over his past 8 games and a couple of bombs. Wagaman doesn’t have any walks yet, which is always concerning for sustainability, but since there’s only one week left to this fantasy season it doesn’t matter to us in redraft leagues.
