With the 2023 NFL season in its final weeks, let’s take a look at the top 10 quarterbacks in Dynasty fantasy football formats ahead of the 2024 NFL season.

Top 10 Dynasty Quarterback Rankings

1. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes continues to be the most valuable Dynasty quarterback and arguably the single most valuable Dynasty asset in Superflex formats. While he did have a bit of a down season by his standards, he still threw for 4,183 yards and 27 touchdowns while completing 67.2% of his passes. Those yardage and touchdown pass totals were both the second-lowest totals of his career to this point.

However, despite the off year by his standards, Mahomes remains my top quarterback in Dynasty leagues. Expect the Chiefs to focus on adding more weapons for Mahomes this offseason. Along with another year of experience gained for rookie wide receiver Rashee Rice and second-year running back Isiah Pacheco, expect the Chiefs’ offense to be high-powered once again next season.

2. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills

Josh Allen has been one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks over the last few years, and he proved why again this season. Allen completed 66.5% of his passes while throwing for 4,306 yards and 29 touchdowns. He added an additional 524 yards on the ground and set a new career high with 15 rushing touchdowns. However, he did account for 24 turnovers this season, which is the main drawback with Allen, as he turns the ball over a lot.

The Bills’ offense began to excel when they made a midseason change at offensive coordinator, and with Joe Brady officially named the offensive coordinator for next season, expect Josh Allen to continue his dual-threat dominance once again next season.

3. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens,

In his first season in a new offensive system, Lamar Jackson produced a season that will likely see him win his second MVP award. This season, Jackson threw for a career-high 3,678 yards and 24 touchdowns, while adding 821 rushing yards and an additional five touchdowns on the ground. He also played in every game this season outside of Week 17 where the Ravens rested their starters. This is encouraging since one of the main knocks against Jackson heading into this season was his durability, as he had not finished the past two seasons due to injuries.

Heading into the 2024 season, Jackson remains one of the league’s top quarterbacks and is an elite option in fantasy formats due to his dual-threat abilities. Due to his play style, durability remains a concern as Jackson gets older, but he will have a few more elite seasons before that becomes an issue for Dynasty managers.

4. Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers

Herbert and the Chargers struggled this season, which led to him having the worst season of his career to this point. Herbert threw for 3,134 yards and only 20 touchdowns in what was a tough season for him. It is important to note that he was also dealing with a finger injury for most of the year, which affected his performance throughout the season.

Recently, the Chargers made a huge coaching move, hiring former University of Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh to be their next head coach. Under Harbaugh, expect Herbert to be in a position to thrive next season. While the Chargers will likely be more run-oriented, as that is a staple of Harbaugh’s offenses, expect Herbert to be very efficient when he is asked to throw the ball. It would not be surprising if Herbert throws for 4,000 yards and 30+ touchdown passes next season. He is a great option in Dynasty formats.

5. Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow had his 2023 season come to an end prematurely due to injury. He finished with a line of 2,309 yards and 15 touchdowns in ten games. This was after he had a very slow start, with only two touchdown passes in the team’s first four games.

Despite the setbacks, Burrow remains one of the league’s top quarterbacks when healthy. However, concerns are growing about his durability, as he has suffered several significant injuries throughout his four-year career. Nevertheless, when healthy, he is among the elite quarterbacks in the league, and the Bengals’ offense should remain potent with his return next season.

6. C.J. Stroud, Houston Texans

After being selected second overall in the 2023 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans, C.J. Stroud produced one of the best rookie seasons from a quarterback in recent memory. He threw for 4,108 yards and 23 touchdowns, led the Texans to the playoffs, and even won a playoff game in his rookie season.

Stroud’s sensational season immediately makes him a top-10 quarterback in Dynasty formats and one of the top assets overall in Superflex formats. Expect the Texans to focus on surrounding their talented quarterback with more playmakers through free agency and the draft. Stroud projects to be a top quarterback again for the 2024 season.

7. Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts had another strong season, throwing for 3,858 yards with 23 touchdowns while also adding 605 rushing yards and an additional 15 touchdowns on the ground. The Eagles’ offense was very inconsistent at times this season, struggling in the back half of the year and in their Wild Card-round loss to the Buccaneers. The team has recently hired Kellen Moore to be their new offensive coordinator, who will be asked to bring back the form that made the Eagles’ offense one of the best in the league.

Hurts projects to be a top quarterback again in 2024, but do not expect his rushing touchdown totals to be as high next season. Many of his rushing touchdowns came on the Eagles’ famous “tush push” play, which is expected to be banned this offseason. Regardless, Hurts should remain a top option at the quarterback position next season.

8. Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals

Murray played only eight games this season because he was rehabbing for most of the year from a torn ACL injury that he suffered last season. In those eight games, he threw for 1,799 yards, ten touchdowns, and five interceptions. He also contributed 244 rushing yards and scored three rushing touchdowns. Despite the Cardinals’ 4-13 record, Murray went 3-5 as the starter and played well, considering the lack of talent around him in the offense.

The Cardinals are well-positioned to add a premium offensive player to the team in the upcoming offseason, as they currently hold the fourth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. With a full offseason and training camp to prepare for the next season, we can expect Murray to have a strong performance another year removed from his ACL injury.

9. Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers

Prior to the start of the season, it was unclear how successful the Green Bay Packers would be without their star quarterback Aaron Rodgers. However, after the season, they seem to have found their next franchise quarterback in Jordan Love. In his debut season as a starter, Love threw for an impressive 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns, and only 11 interceptions, while also rushing for 247 yards and scoring four rushing touchdowns. What makes his performance even more impressive is that his group of receivers was among the youngest in the league.

With Love now having a full year of starting experience under his belt and an entire offseason to work with his receivers, I expect his production to only increase. With youth and production on his side, he is right at home in the top 10 Dynasty quarterbacks.

10. Anthony Richardson, Indianapolis Colts

The Indianapolis Colts surprised many by selecting Anthony Richardson with the fourth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, but he proved to be an exciting player during his rookie season. Although Richardson played in only parts of four games due to a shoulder injury, he was effective in his limited time, as he threw for 577 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception. He also rushed for 136 yards and scored four more touchdowns, bringing his total to seven touchdowns in four games.

Despite the small sample size, Richardson showed glimpses of his potential as an NFL quarterback. His size and dual-threat abilities make him stand out from other players in his position. While it is difficult to project his future development, his ceiling as a dual-threat option makes him a lock as a top-10 quarterback in Dynasty formats.
