Dynasty Football Weekly Journal

Week 9 is beginning, and this means that one of the crazy bye weeks is behind us.  Eleven redraft teams have daily management, and only 1 is currently out of the playoff race.  The time to be patient is now over, and it’s time to do whatever it takes to get each and every team to the playoffs.  This is where there is a slight difference in managing a redraft team rather than a dynasty team.  I want to share my redraft experience this year, however, so you can see the sense of urgency I feel when I manage dynasty teams while using an extreme amount of patience.  I have 11 redraft teams; however, 3 different builds are all being highlighted here each week, so hopefully I can demonstrate how I play very similarly no matter how it begins.

Danger Family

Beginning week 9, this team has a record of 15-1 with the leagues best record.  The #2 seed is right behind, and the best overall record does pay 1x, so putting two wins up each week is critical to stay in the top spot.  #3 seed has fallen 5 games back, so by adding two wins each week, it’s becoming more likely to get a first-round bye.  The #7 seed is 8 games back, so the magic number is in sight to clinch a playoff berth here.  This team doesn’t have anyone on bye this week, so it will be a team at full strength with Dobbins on the bench.  Pearsall might miss time, and if so, will create an open roster spot that might lead to a QB upgrade over Dart for a week.  If Pearsall isn’t ruled out, I’m prepared to move forward with Dart.  I begin to look ahead to week 10, realizing only Javonte and a bench WR Deke are on bye, so nothing I really need to look at, as I have Dobbins, Henderson, or Pearsall to put in that flex spot.  Week 11 has JT on bye, but again, lots of RBs are available for that flex spot.  Looking to week 12, it will be helpful to have Pearsall back as Dobbins and Vidal are on bye, and it might be the end for both of them as starters, so it will be helpful to have other options available.  I’m excited to take this team closer to the playoffs.

TFFL2

The playoffs begin for this team right now in week 9, as its record of 1-7 means it’s win or go home. This team just has never gotten going, even though I’ve reworked the team and added players at every position, so I can simply start the best players in each matchup.  I start with Zay Flowers on Thursday night.  This week, my team goes up against Lamb and JSN, so it will take a great effort to get a win. The projections are within a point, so I need the variance to go my way.

Clown Head Redraft I

This team begins the week 6-2, but right now is the #3 seed, so it still has some work to do in order to get that first-round bye.  This week, the opponent is the #2 seed with an equal record, so a win becomes critical to getting a week off later in the year.  Getting a bye is what I begin to focus on here.  If a deal presents itself to upgrade at a position to help a lower seed get into the playoffs, I begin to focus on seeing what strengths I have that can fill others’ needs.
