Top MLB Prop Picks 4/16

Freddie Freeman MORE Than 0.5 Runs

Freeman is one of the best hitters in MLB and is also one of the top run scorers over the past three seasons. He has led the National League in runs in three of the past four seasons and has no less than 117 runs scored in each of the past three seasons. His elite OBP and .300+ batting average play a role in his ability to score runs, of course, the more he is on base, the better chance he has to score. He is also aided by being in an elite Dodgers lineup with high-profile run producers hitting behind him, too. When players like Freeman, Betts, and Acuna Jr. have a prop of 0.5 runs or more, you need to bet the MORE.

Jared Jones MORE Than 6 Strikeouts

Jones has gotten off to a historic start in his rookie season. He generated the most swings and misses in MLB history for a rookie SP in his first two career starts. He has an impressive 25 Ks in 18 innings with no less than seven in any start. Jones has also shown the ability to go deep into games by today’s standards, going at least 5.2 innings in every outing this season and six or more innings in two of the three. The only reason why the prop isn’t higher than six is that the Mets haven’t been striking out at a high rate this year. I follow the old adage of “good pitching beats good hitting.“

Anthony Volpe MORE Than 0.5 Runs

Volpe has started the season so well for the Yankees that they decided to move him into the lead-off spot in the order. This is getting him five at-bats or more most nights, and when you are batting .373 with a .464 OBP, you are going to be on base often with a chance to score runs. It might explain why Volpe has 14 runs in 16 games so far this season, and his ability to steal a base and put himself in scoring position helps as well. Let’s also consider that he now bats directly in front of superstars Juan Soto and Aaron Judge. We really couldn’t ask for a better situation in terms of betting on a player to score a run.

Lance Lynn MORE Than 6 Strikeouts

Lynn has always been a strikeout pitcher, even when the rest of his game isn’t where it needs to be. This season has been no different, and tonight, he has an excellent matchup that should boost his strikeout numbers even more. Lynn faces the Oakland A’s, who are second in MLB in total team strikeouts offensively; they lead the league with the most strikeouts per game offensively, too. Lynn has 18 Ks in 13.2 innings this season, so if he goes five to six innings tonight, he should have no problem racking up six or more strikeouts. It’s worth noting that in his most recent start, he went five innings for the first time this year, so his arm strength is built up finally.
