Waiver Wire Week 15
% Shows current Fantrax ownership level
* Starred players could offer special upside
*77% 3B,OF Addison Barger, Toronto Blue Jays- Plays almost exclusively against righties but his peripheral stats are elite. He’s been heating up again lately and this is likely your last chance to snag him if he isn’t already owned.
68% SS JP Crawford, Seattle Mariners- Batting leadoff and one of the hottest hitters in baseball. Had an incredible 15 game hitting streak going before last game. Deserves to be owned in virtually all leagues.
67% 1B, OF Gavin Sheets, San Diego Padres- Sneaky good batted ball stats and getting a lot of playing time this year. Inconsistent production but potential for good output any given week.
66% OF Austin Hays, Cincinnati Reds- He’s back and he’s hitting bombs. Much better in batting average leagues than OBP, but is hot enough right now to warrant starting in both formats.
*64% OF Jordan Beck, Colorado Rockies- Has hits in 6 out of his past 7 games with a home run and a steal. Offers both power and speed upside.
62% OF Trent Grisham, New York Yankees- His playing time is being threatened now, though he had a huge game with a bomb and 5 RBI his last time out. He has maintained a great slugging percentage and has 17 homers now, so he’s a good option any time he’s starting.
59% 2B, OF Hyeseong Kim, Los Angeles Dodgers- Peripherals show he might be playing over his head a bit but considering he’s rocking a .331/.368/.449 slash, even if he regresses a bit he can still be quite useful. The main issue is playing time right now.
51% C Carlos Narvaez, Boston Red Sox- Has cooled off a bit but going pretty strong. Hitting .269/.342/.435 with 8 bombs and decent counting stats.
50% 2B, OF Jeff McNeil, New York Mets- Solid hitter who has shown great plate discipline this year and offers a little pop (9 homers in about 200 at bats).
*48% OF Tyler Freeman, Colorado Rockies- He has been an excellent source of speed in deeper leagues and should continue to be pending good health.
45% DH Masataka Yoshida, Boston Red Sox- He’s back and hasn’t really taken off yet but he’s only struck out twice in 22 at bats so the hits will likely start to land more frequently for him.
32% OF Michael Conforto, Los Angeles Dodgers- Still hasn’t done much of anything but might be worth holding a bit longer to see if that changes. There’s been some signs of life.
24% 1B, 3B, OF Eric Wagaman, Miami Marlins- Hasn’t done anything in a while but his peripherals suggest he can do better.
21% 2B,OF Angel Martinez, Cleveland Guardians- Has a hit in 8 of his past 10 games and 4 home runs during this stretch, including 1 his last time out.
13% 1B, 2B, OF Kody Clemens, Minnesota Twins- Despite having unimpressive stats on the season, Clemens has been read hot of late. In the past week in particular, he has hits in 5 of 7 games with 3 homers and 10 RBI. He needs to take more walks for him to experience sustained success at the plate, but he’s a great grab in deeper leagues right now regardless, especially considering his rare triple eligibility.
11% OF Heriberto Hernandez, Miami Marlins- Could be worth a look in deeper leagues. Has an excellent .325/.376/.506 slash so far with hits in 4 of his past 6 games.
Pitchers
*77% SP Will Warren, New York Yankees- Has great peripherals and has been a decent source of wins and K’s, but has been frustratingly inconsistent. In his most recent start he let up 5 runs in 3.2 innings. Arrggh.
*77% RP Emilio Pagan, Cincinnati Reds- The closer for the Reds, and a good one. Has 21 saves to just 3 blown saves. Should be owned in all leagues.
77% SP Noah Cameron, Kansas City Royals- His peripheral stats aren’t amazing, but he is still a solid arm, especially in deeper formats. Has been very good over his past 3 starts.
76% RP Will Vest, Detroit Tigers- The closer for Detroit, and a solid one. Has 15 saves to just 4 blown saves. Should be owned everywhere.
72% SP Trevor Rogers, Baltimore Orioles- Good peripherals back up his excellent performance through 7 starts so far, with 3 of those being wins. Could he be a late bloomer?
71% SP Quinn Priester, Milwaukee Brewers- His peripherals are pretty lackluster for the most part, but his nearly 60% groundball rate is very encouraging and is no doubt the main reason for the success he has had so far. Impressively, 7 of his last 9 starts have been wins, including a brilliant one his last time out- 10 K’s, no walks or runs and just 3 hits allowed vs. the Dodgers!
*64% RP Ronny Henriquez, Miami Marlins- Seems like the guy to own in Miami for saves and he is a superb reliever.
*63% SP Emmet Sheehan, Los Angeles Dodgers- A great arm who has done pretty well over his first 4 appearances but his playing time and whether he’ll start or not is uncertain.
*60% SP Joe Boyle, Tampa Bay Rays- In long relief but is an awesome arm. Seems like a matter of time before he becomes a starter, and a very good one.
43% SP Mike Soroka, Washington Nationals- Going through a rough stretch but still has great peripherals.
52% SP Colin Rea, Chicago Cubs- Lackluster peripherals but has done well with limiting walks over the past couple of months and is riding a 4 game win streak now. Worth starting for these reasons.
49% SP Jason Junk, Miami Marlins- Has questionable peripherals but barely walks hitters and impressively has a win in 4 of his past 7 appearances. His most recent start was a rough one, however, with 5 runs allowed in 5 innings.
46% SP Brandon Walter, Houston Astros- Has only walked 3 hitters over his 8 starts this year and has some good peripheral stats. Had a great start again his last time out against Seattle.
30% SP Sawyer Gipson-Long, Detroit Tigers- Out with a strained neck but had a great rehab start and is due back soon. Could be worth scooping.
*24% RP Kevin Ginkel, Arizona Diamondbacks- Could be the closer now that Shelby Miller is out.
