Marte is coming off a career year slashing .292/.372/.560 with 36 HR and 95 RBI. Entering his age 31 season, Marte has positioned himself as the top second baseman in MLB. There is no question he will hit in the heart of Arizona’s lineup and should finish with a second-straight 30+ HR season and 90+ RBI.

2. Marcus Semien, Texas Rangers

Since 2019, excluding the shortened 2020 season, Semien has had five straight seasons with 20+ HR and 70 BRI. His OBP has fluctuated the past few seasons, but he maintains healthy power numbers. As he enters the last few seasons of his prime, fantasy baseball players can be confident he will hit 25+ HR with 75+ RBI.

3. Luis Arraez, San Diego Padres

Arraez is an anomaly for fantasy baseball. He doesn’t post the home runs, RBI, or stolen bases as his counterparts, but he is one of the best hitters in Major League Baseball. Arraez finished last season with a second consecutive season with 200+ hits and a third consecutive season with 30+ doubles and a .300+ average. Arraez’s overall numbers will help ease the pain of any power hitters that harm AVG, and he’s never accumulated more than 48 strikeouts in any season. Given his 1B & 2B eligibility, Luis Arraez is a great player to draft when others pass on his services during fantasy baseball drafts.

4. Jose Altuve, Houston Astros

Altuve turns 35 in May but has produced consistent numbers throughout this career. After a limited 90 games in 2023, Altuve rebounded, playing in 153 games a season ago, hitting 20 HR, and driving in 65 runs. His 22 stolen bases were the most he’s had since 2017, but a major concern was Altuve’s 119 strikeouts. This was the first time in his career that he totaled triple-digit strikeouts. Again, the Astros second baseman turns 35 in May, and the question remains: How long can he keep providing the consistency fantasy baseball players have become familiar with?

5. Ozzie Albies, Atlanta Braves

Albies rebounded in 2023 after dealing with an injury in 2022. Hoping for another successful/healthy 2024 season, Albies once again found himself dealing with an injury that limited him to 99 games. Assuming healthy, Albies is not only a top fantasy baseball second baseman but one of the top second basemen in MLB. Recent health is concerning, but a fully healthy season should see the Atlanta second baseman slash .270/.320/.450 with 25+ HR, 65+ RBI, and double-digit steals.

6. Nico Hoerner, Chicago Cubs

His lack of power isn’t ideal for fantasy baseball lineups, but Hoerner is a plus hitter and possesses a great base-stealing ability. 2024 saw Hoerner finish with two straight seasons of 86+ runs scored and 31+ stolen bases. Chicago’s addition of Kyle Tucker will allow Hoerner to score more frequently, and he should reach 30+ stolen bases for a third consecutive season.

7. Jordan Westburg, Baltimore Orioles

Baltimore’s Westburg was one of the best fantasy baseball waiver wire additions of 2024. A fractured right hand derailed the second half of the season, but the first-year player finished with 18 HR and 63 RBI. A healthy Jordan Westburg should reach 20+ home runs and 70+ RBI. Given he carries 2B/3B eligibility, he is one of the better options when the top second and third basemen have been drafted.

8. Bryce Turang, Milwaukee Brewers

A late-round pick a season ago, Turang kept up with his 2023 production, finishing 2024 with seven HR, 72 runs scored, and 50 stolen bases. He doesn’t hit for a high average and possesses minimal power, but his speed is a welcome addition to any fantasy baseball team.

9. Xander Bogaerts, San Diego Padres

Bogaerts’ first season in San Diego was modestly successful, but last season saw him limited to 111 games, finishing with 11 HR and 44 RBI. A return to health should see Xander Bogaerts reach 15+ HR, drive in 60+ RBI, and steal close to 20 bases.

10. Matt McLain, Cincinnati Reds

After hitting the scene in 2023 and finishing with 16 HR and 50 RBI in 365 at-bats, shoulder surgery cost McLain the entire 2024 season. This was devastating for any fantasy baseball player that drafted McLain with high hopes. There will be rust, but a healthy Matt McLain can reach 20+ HR, 70+ RBI, and 20+ stolen bases with both 2B/SS eligibility.
