Fantasy Football News Roundup: Where Will Russell Wilson Go?

Doc gaves his take on the top stories from this week around the NFL.

Russell Wilson Released By Broncos

Russell Wilson has been told that he won’t be cooking anymore in Denver. This should not be surprising to anyone, as the Broncos went with Jarrett Stidham as their starter in the last couple of games to end the 2023 season. Stidham will likely enter the year as the team’s starter, but I expect them to draft their QB of the future, considering a good portion of Wilson’s salary is still on their books. As for Wilson, look for him to end up starting somewhere as well. If Atlanta misses out on Kirk Cousins, I can see him going there. If that doesn’t pan out, I would also not rule out Las Vegas. Wilson would be an ideal fit in Antonio Pierce’s run-heavy, play-action offense.

Saints Planning To Cut Michael Thomas

Michael Thomas will be cut by the New Orleans Saints prior to free agency. This is the end of an era for Thomas, as his potential HOF career was derailed by multiple injuries. While the Saints will likely draft a wide receiver in this deep WR draft, I think that second-year player A.T. Perry might see a huge uptick in snaps. Perry shined at certain points last season and has the size, speed, and leaping ability that to be a great sleeper in fantasy drafts.

Jaylon Johnson Signs Extension With The Bears

Jaylon Johnson has signed a four-year deal with the Chicago Bears. A lot of people might not be paying attention to this signing, but I sure am. Johnson is a fantastic cornerback for the Bears, who smartly signed him to a long-term contract. Johnson, Terrell Edmunds, and Montez Sweat are now the linchpins to a young defense that was starting to become very usable in both Seasonal and DFS leagues late last season. They are one of my early choices for the best sleeper fantasy defense in 2024.

Texans Extend Dalton Schultz

Dalton Schultz has signed a three-year extension with Houston. When I saw that Schultz was a free agent, I wondered whether Houston was going to pay him or whether another team would try to steal him away. Schultz was one of C.J. Stroud’s top targets, catching 59 passes and five TDs. Schultz will be a top-10 fantasy talent at a weak position in 2024 as the Texans look to make another run at the Super Bowl.
