Weekly Fantasy Football News Roundup: Will Ty Chandler Be The Guy For The Vikings?

Dr. Roto gives his takes on this week’s most important fantasy football stories.

Alexander Mattison Released

Minnesota is releasing RB Alexander Mattison. While I am a big Ty Chandler fan, I still think that they end up signing someone in free agency AND drafting an RB, too. As for Mattison, I think he could be a good goal-line RB and should still have some mild value if he signs with the right team.

Justin Fields’ Future To Be Decided

Bears GM Ryan Poles has told Justin Fields that the team will let him know prior to the start of free agency if they plan on selecting a QB with the first pick. The Bears are going to need to evaluate Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels, and others before making a final decision. If the Bears trade the pick and keep Fields, they should be able to get a bounty in return. But if they do that, they will have to commit to Fields long-term, which might not be in their plans. If they trade Fields, will they get enough for him, and will their new rookie quarterback be ready to win in year one?  It’s a mess in the Windy City.

Young Receivers Stay Put

Tee Higgins, Jaylen Waddle, and Michael Pittman Jr. are all expected to be back with their respective teams in 2024. All these receivers look to be solid second-round fantasy football picks who will be playing for long-term money. I would trade for all of them in Dynasty formats and have no problem taking them early in Redraft leagues, too.

Star Running Backs On the Move

Tony Pollard, Derrick Henry, Josh Jacobs, Austin Ekeler, and Saquon Barkley are all expected to be free agents. With a surplus of running back talent available, I am not sure that any of these players will break the bank with their new contracst. Moreover, I expect that most of them (with the exception of Saquon) end up in some sort of running back by committee situations.

Davante Adams Stuck In Las Vegas

The Raiders have said that they have no interest in trading Davante Adams. If Adams stays with the team, I might have minimal interest in drafting him unless the QB situation improves. Aidan O’Connell has a lot of maturing to do, and Antonio Pierce has already shown that he wants to run the ball a ton.
