Top MLB Prop Picks 5/1
Colin Rea LESS Than 4.5 Strikeouts
Rea has pitched surprisingly well this season. He has been a big part of the Brewers’ rotation and takes the mound tonight against the Rays. However, has recorded more than 4.5 strikeouts only one time in his first five starts this season. Although the Rays do swing and miss at an above-average rate, strikeouts just aren’t a big part of Rea’s game, so I’m taking the under here.
Jose Altuve MORE Than 0.5 Runs
The Astros have been bad this season, really bad actually. Jose Altuve, though, has been vintage Altuve. He’s having a terrific season so far, batting .345 with a .414 OBP, seven HRs, and nine doubles. The hitters behind him have heated up as well. Alex Bregman is starting to hit, Yordan Alvarez is starting to hit, and Kyle Tucker has been great all season. Altuve puts himself in a position to score a run most nights, and I like his chances against Triston McKenzie, who has struggled this season.
Joe Musgrove LESS Than 6 Strikeouts
Musgrove has made seven starts this season, which leads MLB. In those starts, he has struck out six or more batters only one time and it came all the way back on April 3rd. He hasn’t shown yet that he can rack up big strikeout numbers and until he does, betting the under on six, or even 5.5 if it drops down, seems like a good bet.
Andrew Heaney MORE Than 4 Strikeouts
The overall numbers haven’t been good for Heaney, yet the strikeouts continue to be there. He has 12 Ks in his past 11 innings, and that was against two good teams: the Braves and Mariners. Tonight, he faces a young Nationals team that can definitely be prone to strikeouts. Heaney just needs to give enough length in this game so that he can rack up the Ks. Five innings should do it.
Jo Adell MORE Than 0.5 Hits
I played this prop yesterday, and I am going back to it today. I like to ride the hot hand, and that’s what we’re doing with Adell. Adell has been consistent at the plate lately, and it’s gotten him moved up to second in the lineup as well, so he is seeing more ABs and that gives him more opportunities to get a hit.
