College Basketball Power Rankings (12/10)

Mike breaks down this weeks CBB top 25!

1. Tennessee Volunteers

One of the few undefeated programs in the country. The Vols have been dominant defensively and have the versatility on the offensive end to hang around the number-one spot for the foreseeable future.

2. Auburn Tigers

Tough road loss at Duke last week but bounced back nicely by blowing out Richmond. The Tigers have played a Top 10 Non-Con schedule and are a favorite in the SEC.

3. Kentucky Wildcats

The Wildcats got another big win this weekend over Gonzaga and proved that they are capable of winning it all in the Spring. Guard Otega Oweh has been spectacular.

4. Iowa State Cyclones

The Cyclones picked up a resume-boosting win over Marquette. What’s scary is the offense has been just as good as the defense.

5. Florida Gators

Coach Golden and crew continue to take care of business. The strength of schedule picks up with a road date at Arizona State and a home matchup with UNC.

6. Duke Blue Devils

It was a great week for the Cameron Crazies. First, they get a signature win over Auburn, and then go to Louisville and use a massive second half to avoid an upset.

7. Marquette Golden Eagles

Kam Jones continues to be one of the best players in the country. Shaka and Co took apart a solid Wisconsin program.

8. Alabama Crimson Tide

The Tide are the real deal and flexed their muscle on the road in Chapel Hill. The defense is still a bit suspect, but this team has all the tools

9. Gonzaga Bulldogs

Lost the heartbreaker to Kentucky, but look the part. This team has so many weapons on offense. Can they get enough stops in the big games?

10. Oklahoma Sooners

Oddly enough, the Sooners continue to fly under the radar as a P5 undefeated. They are going to get pushed much harder during Big 12 play, but Porter Moser has this team on the national radar.

11. Kansas Jayhawks

Brutal losses to Creighton and Missouri knock the Jayhawks outside of the Top 10. Yes, both games were on the road, but Kansas defense is a big-time question mark.

12. Michigan Wolverines

The Twin Towers of Goldin and Wolf have the Wolverines back near the top of the sport. Starting off 2-0 in Big Ten play is raising the ceiling in year one for Coach May.

13. Oregon Ducks

Tough L taken by the Ducks at home to UCLA. Still, the efficiency on both ends of the floor makes this team a dangerous one to watch.

14. Clemson Tigers

Ian Scheffelin has taken his game to another level, and so have the Tigers. After last year’s Elite Eight, this team has the goods to get there again.

15. Purdue Boilermakers

Braden Smith continues to play at an All-American level, and the Boilermakers are one of the best three-point shooting teams in the country.

16. Ole Miss Rebels

Solid win for the Rebels at Louisville, but questions still remain about this programs upside due to the lack of schedule strength. Guard Sean Pedulla has settled in nicely as the lead playmaker.

17. Houston Cougars

Feels like the Cougars have been forgotten. A 28-point win over Butler proves that Kelvin Sampson’s team has the capability of dominating Power Conference competition.

18. Texas A&M Aggies

The Aggies knocked off their old foe, Texas Tech, in convincing fashion. If the Aggies can shoot a decent clip from three, the sky is the limit.

19. UConn Huskies

The back-to-back champs re-enter our Top 25 after a strong road win over Texas. With the Big East looking a bit down, the Huskies are still in a spot to accomplish everything they want.

20. Mississippi State Bulldogs

The Bulldogs have some serious talent. Josh Hubbard and Keeshawn Murphy have been excellent. Always known for defense, Chris Jans team has some offense to go with it.

21. Michigan State Spartans

Izzo continues to do Izzo things. The Spartans are off to a 2-0 start in the Big Ten and feature one of the deepest teams in the country.

22. San Diego State Aztecs

The Aztecs lost a lot this offseason, and some questioned whether they could get it done. Those questions have been answered thanks in large part to freshman big man Magoon Gwath.

23. Cincinnati Bearcats

The only blemish came on the road to Villanova. The schedule tightens up, but it’s hard not to like the upside for the Bearcats.

24. UCLA Bruins

The analytics love them, and the eye test was there in the big win over Oregon. Tyler Bilodeau has been one of the better transfer “bigs” that no one is talking about.

25. Maryland Terrapins

Even though they dropped a tough one on the road to Purdue, the Terps are for real. Derik Queen needs to be talked about as a Top 5 pick with his versatility.
