The Dallas Cowboys suffered one of the most stunning collapses of the NFL season Sunday, blowing a double-digit lead against the Arizona Cardinals before eventually falling 33-30 in overtime. The loss has sparked plenty of criticism of Dallas head coach Brian Schottenheimer, with Colin Cowherd taking that criticism to another level Monday.
Cowherd used a memorable Home Alone comparison to describe the Cowboys’ performance and declared Dallas the worst-coached team in the NFL.
Cowboys blow another massive lead

Dallas appeared to be in control for much of Sundayβs matchup, building a 17-3 halftime lead and holding a 27-17 advantage late in the fourth quarter. Arizona, however, rallied behind Gardner Minshew after Jacoby Brissett was replaced at quarterback.
Minshew threw three touchdown passes in the second half, including a 13-yard touchdown to Michael Wilson with six seconds remaining that tied the game at 30. Arizona eventually won in overtime on Chad Rylandβs 42-yard field goal.
The collapse was particularly damaging because Dallas had multiple opportunities to close out the game. The Cowboys failed to take advantage of a four-minute opportunity late in regulation, while the defense allowed Arizona to score four consecutive touchdowns after the Cardinals had struggled to generate much offense early.
That sequence left Cowherd questioning virtually everything about the Cowboys’ coaching.
Cowherd unloads on Cowboys coaching

Speaking about Dallas’ collapse, Cowherd compared the Cowboys to the bumbling robbers from Home Alone.
βThe Cowboys have become those two robbers in Home Alone. They’re falling down the stairs, tripping over paint cans, stepping on toys… This is the worst coached team in the NFL.β
Cowherd’s comments came after the Cowboys fell to 3-5 on the season, with the loss immediately creating questions about Schottenheimer’s future. Dallas has struggled to finish games consistently, and Sunday’s defeat added another major collapse to the team’s season.
The Cowboys’ own coaching staff acknowledged the problems after the game. Schottenheimer described the loss as a βtale of two halvesβ and said Dallas needed to learn how to finish games in all three phases.
The criticism is unlikely to slow down after this defeat. Dallas had a chance to reach .500 and build momentum in the NFC East, only to watch a 10-point fourth-quarter lead disappear before Arizona completed the comeback in overtime.
