Aaron Rodgers may be 42 years old, but the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback somehow finished with more rushing yards than any New Orleans Saints player during Sunday’s Week 7 matchup. The bizarre statistic highlighted just how much trouble the Saints had running the football in the NFL’s Week 7 action.
Rodgers surprising stat

Rodgers finished the game with eight rushing yards, while Saints quarterback Tyler Shough led New Orleans with just seven yards. Kendre Miller managed six yards and Alvin Kamara finished with five yards on the ground.
While Rodgers led the entire group, his 8 rushing yards were enough to finish ahead of both Miller and Kamara. The statistic was particularly notable because Rodgers is primarily known for his arm at this stage of his career rather than his ability to create plays with his legs.
The Saints’ struggles were even more pronounced across the entire rushing attack. New Orleans finished with only 18 rushing yards on 17 attempts, with none of its three primary rushing options able to consistently generate anything against Pittsburgh’s defense.
Kamara had six carries for five yards, while Miller gained six yards on eight attempts. Shough’s seven rushing yards came on three carries, giving him the team lead despite being the Saints’ quarterback.
Saints couldn’t get anything going on the ground

The lack of a running game put even more pressure on Shough to keep the Saints’ offense moving through the air. The rookie quarterback completed 30 of 38 passes for 278 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the 16-10 loss.
New Orleans did have some success through the passing game, particularly with Kamara, who caught seven passes for 57 yards. Chris Olave added six receptions for 56 yards, while Barion Brown also recorded 57 receiving yards.
Still, Pittsburgh’s ability to shut down the Saints’ rushing attack became one of the defining storylines of the game. The Steelers finished with 30 rushing attempts of their own and controlled the clock for more than 32 minutes.
For a Saints offense featuring a veteran star like Kamara, finishing with only 18 total rushing yards is a striking result. And the fact that a 42-year-old Rodgers nearly matched New Orleans’ entire rushing production from its top players made the statistic even more unusual.
