The NFL continues to produce eye-popping receiving numbers, but one statistic involving Los Angeles Rams star Puka Nacua and Minnesota Vikings superstar Justin Jefferson is especially difficult to ignore. Nacua was targeted 24 times in Monday night’s loss to the Buffalo Bills — the exact same number of targets Jefferson has received across the entire 2026 season.
The comparison is even more striking when considering how much volume Nacua received in a single game. The Rams wide receiver essentially matched Jefferson’s entire season target total in one night.
Nacua saw an incredible amount of volume

Nacua was the focal point of the Rams’ passing attack throughout Monday night’s 37-34 overtime loss to Buffalo. Matthew Stafford targeted him 24 times, and Nacua responded by catching 17 passes for 138 yards and a touchdown.
The 24 targets were the most by an NFL player since Brandon Marshall received 28 targets in Week 14 of the 2009 season. Nacua’s 17 receptions also tied the most by any player in a game this season.
The target share was remarkable as well. Nacua was targeted on 51.1% of his routes, which NFL Pro Fantasy noted was the highest target rate recorded by a wide receiver with at least 40 routes in a game during the Next Gen Stats era.
Nacua now has 31 receptions for 337 yards and a touchdown through three games in 2026.
Jefferson’s 24 targets make the comparison even crazier

Jefferson, meanwhile, has been productive despite receiving dramatically less volume. NFL.com lists him with 19 receptions for 258 yards and three touchdowns through four games, while PFF has him at exactly 24 targets for the season.
That means Nacua matched Jefferson’s entire 2026 target total in one Monday night performance.
The circumstances are different, of course. Jefferson missed Minnesota’s Week 4 game with an ankle injury before returning Sunday against New Orleans, when he caught six passes for 79 yards and a touchdown on seven targets.
Still, the comparison illustrates just how extreme Nacua’s workload was against Buffalo. One of the NFL’s premier receivers has accumulated 24 targets over an entire season, while Nacua received all 24 in a single game.
With Nacua emerging as one of the most heavily targeted players in football, the Rams’ offensive approach could make him one of the most dangerous fantasy and real-life receiving weapons in the NFL moving forward.
