The New York Giants are facing another injury concern involving quarterback Jaxson Dart after the second-year signal-caller exited Monday night’s matchup against the Los Angeles Rams with a left knee injury. Dart’s latest setback adds another chapter to an injury history that has already included multiple concussion evaluations since he entered the NFL.
Dart’s durability has become a storyline relatively early in his career, particularly because of the number of times he has been evaluated following significant hits. While the injuries have not all been related, the frequency of the evaluations is notable.
Dart has undergone multiple concussion evaluations
During his rookie season in 2025, Dart was evaluated for a concussion five times, according to reporting on his injury history. One of those evaluations ultimately resulted in a diagnosed concussion during the Giants’ Week 10 loss to the Chicago Bears, causing him to miss two games.
The Giants quarterback was evaluated again during the 2026 preseason after taking a hard hit from Vikings safety Jay Ward. Dart went to the blue medical tent but cleared the concussion protocol and returned to the game, eventually throwing a touchdown pass.
That means Dart had already been through six reported concussion evaluations since entering the NFL before Monday night’s game against Los Angeles.
The latest injury is different. Dart suffered a left knee injury after being hit by Rams defenders Byron Young and Josaiah Stewart while attempting a pass on the Giants’ opening drive. He initially walked to the sideline, went into the medical tent, and later headed to the locker room for additional testing.
Latest knee injury adds another concern
Dart was initially listed as questionable to return before ultimately being ruled out for the remainder of the game. He completed 3 of 5 passes for 20 yards before leaving, with Jameis Winston taking over at quarterback. Dart also underwent X-rays, although the extent of the knee injury was not immediately known.
The distinction is important when looking at the numbers being circulated: Dart has had five concussion evaluations in 2025, another concussion evaluation during the 2026 preseason, and now a separate knee injury in Week 2. That is seven reported injury-related evaluation events, but only six of them were concussion evaluations.
Dart’s ability to stay on the field will now be closely monitored as the Giants await more information on his knee. The quarterback had opened the 2026 season with a strong performance against Dallas, throwing for 230 yards and three touchdowns in the Giants’ Week 1 victory.
