The NFL season opened with several defensive players making an immediate impact, but two pass rushers stood above the rest. According to Next Gen Stats, Minnesota Vikings edge rusher Dallas Turner and Detroit Lions star Aidan Hutchinson each recorded 10 quarterback pressures in Week 1, tying for the league lead.
Turner nearly matches his rookie total
Turner’s performance was especially eye-opening.
The Vikings edge rusher generated 10 pressures against Green Bay, nearly matching his entire rookie-season total of 15 pressures in just one game. Turner also recorded a career-high seven quarterback hits, the most by a Vikings player in a single game since the NFL began tracking the statistic in 2006.
Seven of Turner’s 10 pressures came in under 2.5 seconds, showing just how quickly he was able to get into the Packers’ backfield.
After spending his first two seasons working behind established players, Turner entered 2026 with an opportunity for a significantly larger role. His Week 1 performance suggests the former first-round pick could be ready to take a major step forward.
Hutchinson continues his dominant form
Hutchinson was equally disruptive for the Lions.
The Detroit defensive star finished with 10 pressures, two sacks, four quarterback hits and two tackles for loss during Detroit’s 31-30 overtime victory over New Orleans.
Hutchinson’s 10 pressures tied Turner for the league lead, continuing the dominant form that has made him one of the NFL’s premier pass rushers.

Hendrickson immediately made his presence felt in his first game with Baltimore, producing eight pressures against Indianapolis, while teammate Tavius Robinson added seven. Philadelphia’s Jalyx Hunt also generated seven pressures despite not recording a sack.
For Turner, however, the biggest takeaway is just how much his Week 1 performance changed the conversation around his potential. He produced nearly 67% of his entire 2025 pressure total in one game.
