The Buffalo Bills were once again the bridesmaid and not the bride, as the Chiefs are heading to their third straight Super Bowl. The Bills did a lot of good things in this game, but a loss is still a loss, and here are five things that they need to improve on for 2025 if they want to finally beat the Chiefs in the playoffs.
Improve The Secondary:
Improve their depth at CB and bring in a player who can excel in man coverage. Once Christian Benford went out with a concussion, Kair Elam gave up 10-yard cushions to Xavier Worthy which Patrick Mahomes exposed repeatedly.
Improve Their Current Pass Catchers:
Raise Keon Coleman and Dalton Kincaid’s game to the next level. Khalil Shakir is a beast in zone coverage and Amari Cooper gets the shadow from the opposing CB1. Coleman and Kincaid need to take advantage of their matchups.
Find Ed Oliver Help:
Find a run-stopper to help Ed Oliver. At times, it feels like Oliver is the only defensive lineman who stops the run. Had the Bills made the Super Bowl, Saquon Barkley would have crushed them. Pairing Oliver with another big body is a must.
Get A Spy On Mahomes:
Put a spy on Mahomes. Matt Milano had double trying to shut down Travis Kelce and spy on Mahomes. Finding a good, young, speedy linebacker in the draft is a necessity.
Need A Better Pass Rush:
More pressure on Mahomes. Von Miller is a stud, but the Bills barely pressured him otherwise. All Super Bowl Champions have great defenses. Buffalo needs to improve theirs big time in the off-season.
