The Atlanta Braves’ 2026 season is officially over, and one of the biggest questions following their NLDS elimination will center around Ronald Acuña Jr.
The superstar was unable to provide the offensive production Atlanta needed during its postseason run, continuing a troubling trend that has followed him in October.
Acuña couldn’t find his swing in October

Acuña finished the 2026 postseason hitting just .167 with a .485 OPS, going 3-for-18 with no home runs or RBIs. He did steal three bases, but the lack of impact at the plate was noticeable for a player who entered the postseason as one of Atlanta’s most important offensive weapons.
The struggles continued throughout the NLDS against Los Angeles. Acuña went 2-for-12 with a .397 OPS through the first three games, and Atlanta ultimately fell to the Dodgers in four games. In Game 3, he grounded out with the bases loaded to end a potential rally after the Braves had loaded the bases with one out.
Acuña’s postseason struggles have now become a larger storyline. Dating back to the 2020 NLDS, he has struggled to consistently produce at the level expected from one of baseball’s biggest stars.
Braves eliminated despite strong regular season

The disappointing postseason performance is particularly frustrating because Atlanta bounced back in a major way during the regular season. The Braves won the NL East after finishing 94-68, an 18-win improvement from their injury-plagued 2025 season.
However, their postseason run ended with a 3-1 NLDS loss to the Dodgers. Atlanta struggled badly with runners in scoring position throughout the series, finishing just 1-for-23 in those situations.
That inability to capitalize on opportunities ultimately proved costly. Atlanta received important contributions from Michael Harris II, Ozzie Albies and Matt Olson during the Wild Card Series, but the offense couldn’t sustain that production against Los Angeles.
For Acuña, the 2026 postseason will add another frustrating chapter to his October résumé. His career postseason numbers remain strong overall, but his inability to consistently replicate his regular-season dominance when the stakes are highest will remain a major storyline heading into the Braves’ offseason.
