Patrick Mahomes is closing in on another impressive NFL record, and he could move past Tom Brady on the all-time list this week, and certainly before the 2026 season is over. After leading the Kansas City Chiefs to a 33-30 overtime victory over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2, Mahomes now has 97 regular-season wins as a starting quarterback, tying Brady for the third-most wins by a quarterback through his first 9 NFL seasons.

With the Chiefs already 2-0, Mahomes needs just one more victory to move ahead of Brady on the list.

Mahomes has already caught Tom Brady

Mahomes reached 97 wins after another impressive performance against Indianapolis. The Chiefs quarterback threw for 382 yards and three touchdowns without an interception in the overtime victory, giving Kansas City its second win of the season.

The win also moved Mahomes into a tie with Brady for third place among quarterbacks with the most regular-season victories during their first 10 seasons since 1950.

The accomplishment is even more notable considering Mahomes did not become Kansas City’s full-time starter until 2018. He made only one start as a rookie in 2017 before taking over the offense the following season.

Mahomes has now accumulated 97 regular-season wins across his first 10 seasons, matching Brady’s total over the same span.

Peyton Manning and Russell Wilson remain ahead

Mahomes is not at the top of the list yet. Peyton Manning holds the mark with 105 wins during his first 10 seasons, while Russell Wilson finished that stretch with 104.

That puts Mahomes eight victories behind Manning and seven behind Wilson, but he has an entire 2026 season ahead of him to continue climbing the leaderboard.

The Chiefs also have plenty of football remaining after their 2-0 start. Mahomes has already thrown for 566 yards and five touchdowns through the first two games of the season, according to NFL statistics.

For now, Mahomes is tied with Brady. The next Chiefs victory will officially move him past one of the most accomplished quarterbacks in NFL history on this particular list.

And with Kansas City beginning the season undefeated, Mahomes has plenty of opportunities to keep moving up the record book.
