Alvin Kamara was suspended by the NFL for three games for his involvement in an incident that occurred outside a Las Vegas casino. Kamara will miss the first three games of the season (Week 1 at home vs. Tennessee, Week 2 at Carolina, and Week 3 at Green Bay). There were rumblings that Kamara might have received up to a six game suspension but his acceptance of responsibility in the incident went a long way to reducing his time off.
I might be in the minority but I was not thrilled with how Kamara played last season. He had 897 yards rushing with only two rushing TDs. The Saints brought in Jamaal Williams from Detroit and drafted Kendre Miller from TCU, so I am not exactly sure how Kamara improves that number in 2023. Kamara’s value lies mainly in his pass-catching ability (he had 57 catches for 490 yards and two TDs), but with Michael Thomas back in the lineup and with a new quarterback in Derek Carr, I am not sure Kamara gets close to 57 this season.
Kamara is the poster child for “Name over Game.” People remember the Kamara who scored 16 TDs back in 2020 and are not seeing the shell of the player that exists today. His current ADP is 88 and he has been going in the eighth round of most drafts. I will be fading him without hesitation.
