NFL: Two Things We Learned From Every Game In Week 11 (MNF Not Included)

Commanders @ Eagles

There is something obviously wrong with Jayden Daniels that stems from his oblique injury. He’s not able to scramble as much, nor is he able to throw deep. This needs to be watched over the next two weeks as Daniels is not necessarily a must-start as he has been thus far this season. For the Eagles Saquon Barkley continued his MVP season rushing for 146 yards and two touchdowns along with 52 yards receiving.

Ravens @ Steelers

Lamar Jackson was not able to get much going on the road, only completing 16 passes for 207 yards and a touchdown. He missed his receivers continually throughout the game and Derrick Henry only had 65 yards rushing. The Steelers best player was kicker Chris Boswell, who had six field goals as the Steelers were just not able to put the ball in the end zone. George Pickens led the Steelers with eight receptions for 89 yards.

Jaguars @ Lions:

It’s quite possible that the entire Jaguars coaching staff, as well as their general manager, may get fired after the Jaguars got obliterated 52-6 on the road. Jared Goff threw for 412 yards and four touchdowns, and our Amon-Ra St. Brown had 11 catches for 161 yards and two touchdowns. Detroit looks unstoppable as their record goes to 9-1 on the season.

Rams @ Patriots:

Matthew Stafford threw for 295 yards and four touchdowns, including two touchdown passes to Cooper Kupp who also had 160 yards receiving. Puka The Rams defense was even better as they pressured Drake Maye all game long and forced him out of his comfort zone. To his credit, Maye threw for 282 yards and two touchdowns but it wasn’t enough to stop the onslaught of the Rams.

Browns @ Saints:

Saints tight end Taysom Hill did something on Sunday that no other player had done since 1971: he rushed for three touchdowns, had over 50 receiving yards, and completed one pass, proving that he was the best all-around player on the field. Jameis Winston, in his return to New Orleans, threw for 395 yards and two touchdowns as the Browns did their best to keep the game close, but the Saints run defense was tremendous, holding Nick Chubb to 50 yards rushing.

Colts @ Jets:

Anthony Richardson made his return to the Colts lineup and led the team to a late come-from-behind victory. Richardson threw for 272 yards and a touchdown but, more importantly, rushed for two touchdowns, including the game-winner. Games like this will absolutely help Richardson’s confidence, and hopefully, he can become the threat that the team knows he can be. Breece Hall was the best offensive threat for the Jets, running for 78 yards and a touchdown, as well as getting 7 receptions for 43 yards and a touchdown.

Vikings @ Titans:

Sam Darnold rebounded from an ugly game in Week 10 to throw for 246 yards and two touchdowns against the Titans on the road. Jordan Addison had a big 47-yard touchdown, and Justin Jefferson had 6 receptions for 81 yards. The Titans quarterback, Will Levis, threw for 295 yards and a touchdown, including a 98-yard TD pass to Nick Westbrook-Ikhine.

Raiders @ Dolphins:

Every so often, Miami has an offensive explosion, and this week, it was against the Raiders. Tua threw for 288 yards and three touchdowns, including two to Jonnu Smith, who went for six receptions for 101 yards. De’Von Achane had 73 yards rushing and a touchdown, and Tyreek Hill had 7 receptions for 61 yards and a touchdown. For the Raiders, Brock Bowers was once again amazing, with 13 receptions for 126 yards and a touchdown. Right now, he may be the best tight end in the NFL.

Packers @ Bears:

It feels like the Bears, especially Bears fans, have lost all confidence in the coaching staff. Matt Eberflus had some head-scratching moments at the end of the game with time management and not taking every play he possibly could to set up the field goal for the game-winner. Caleb Williams threw for 231 yards but once again did not throw a touchdown pass. Jordan Love threw for 261 yards and a touchdown for the Packers and, more importantly, had the game-winning plunge at the goal line. Christian Watson was also terrific, with four receptions for 150 yards.

Falcons @ Broncos:

This game never felt like it was close from the beginning. Bo Nix was outstanding, throwing for 307 passing yards and four touchdowns. He also threw four touchdowns to four different receivers. Javonte Williams had 59 yards rushing and a touchdown and looked explosive. The Falcons could not do anything right on offense as Bijan Robinson only rushed for 35 yards, and Drake London only had 61 yards receiving. The biggest problem was that the Broncos defense put so much pressure on Kirk Cousins that he had no time to find any of his receivers downfield.

Seahawks @ 49ers:

In one of the best comebacks of the season, Geno Smith scored on a 13-yard scramble as the Seahawks took the lead with less than a minute to go in the game. Smith finished with 221 yards passing, and JSN had 10 receptions for 110 yards. San Francisco did not play very well on offense, as Brock Purdy only threw for 159 yards and a touchdown. Jauan Jennings was sensational with 10 receptions for 91 yards and a touchdown, but it looked like the team desperately missed George Kittle, who was out with a hamstring injury.

Chiefs @ Bills:

KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI – OCTOBER 16: Josh Allen #17 of the Buffalo Bills calls a play at the line during the third quarter against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium on October 16, 2022 in Kansas City, Missouri. (Photo by Jason Hanna/Getty Images)

With about two minutes to go in the game, the Bills had a fourth and two up 23-21 when head coach Sean McDermott was faced with a decision: Instead of kicking the field goal and giving the ball back to Patrick Mahomes he decided to go for it on 4th down. Dropping back to pass, Josh Allen scrambled and ran for a 26-yard touchdown to seal the victory for Buffalo. Allen threw for 262 yards and a touchdown and also ran for 55 yards and a touchdown. Khalil Shakir led all Bills receivers with eight receptions for 70 yards. Patrick Mahomes played well, throwing for 196 yards and three touchdowns, but shockingly, Travis Kelce only had two receptions for 8 yards, and Kareem Hunt only had 60 yards rushing. When two of your best players are only putting up 68 yards of total offense, it’s going to be hard to win a game like that on the road.

Bengals @ Chargers:

CINCINNATI, OHIO – NOVEMBER 28: Ja’Marr Chase #1 of the Cincinnati Bengals reacts in the second quarter against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Paul Brown Stadium on November 28, 2021 in Cincinnati, Ohio. (Photo by Dylan Buell/Getty Images)

This was one of the most exciting games of the weekend, as both teams had chances to win. Up until halftime, the Chargers dominated, leading  24-6. Justin Herbert had two touchdown passes and Cincinnati couldn’t get anything going. But in the second half, Joe Burrow threw three touchdown passes, including two to Ja’Marr Chase, and the Bengals looked like they had a chance to pull off the surprising upset on the road. However, Bengals kicker Evan McPherson missed two important field goals in the fourth quarter, which turned the tide and gave the Chargers the ball back with under two minutes left in the game. JK Dobbins then ran for a 29-yard touchdown to seal the victory. This win may also have sealed the end of the Cincinnati Bengals playoff chances.
