Week 3 was interesting. The Dolphins won a game by 50 points after scoring 70 points. And the Broncos were on the wrong side of that matchup, losing 70-20. The Vikings are now 0-3, losing all three games by one score…they were 11-0 last season in one-score games.
The Patriots won their first game of the year in the Meadowlands against the Jets, but they are only 3-12 in their last 15 games against playoff teams. They are on the road this week against the Cowboys who made the playoffs last season.
The Ravens are 2-1 and tied for first place with the Steelers and the Browns; who they play this week on the road, in Cleveland. The winner will end Week 4 in first place in the AFC North.
The Bengals and Titans are in last place in their respective divisions at 1-2 and are facing off in Tennessee. They’ve each given up 67 points and are within one point of each other offensively. The winner will claw themselves back into the playoff race, while the loser will be 1-3.
Most interesting is that the Broncos gave up 70 points last week, but are -3.5 on the road against the winless Bears. It’s unfathomable that the Broncos are favored against anyone.
Even after scoring 70 points last week, the Dolphins are entering Buffalo as 3-point underdogs. This may be the perfect spot for the Bills, but it’s hard to imagine Miami losing to anyone.
And finally, the 0-3 Vikings are heading to Carolina as 4.5-point favorites against the Panthers. Rookie QB Bryce Young will be starting which may actually hurt the team in the short run. They moved the ball effectively last week with Andy Dalton at the helm. They combined to score 27 points in the first two weeks under Young, and the Vikings are averaging 23 points per game this season. This is the week Minnesota gets off the schneid and wins their first game of the year.
