Week 4 is complete, and week 5 is already here with lots of changes, especially at WR after several season-ending injuries to 1st round receivers. Once the calendar switches to October, I believe it’s time to really make a move in the standings and make sure that teams are set up with a plan for the bye weeks. I still want to stay patient, but now I begin to trust my eyes with regard to systems and players within those systems. I also think that the novice opponents I’m playing tend to be on the edge of overreaction, so I just need to stoke the fire.
Danger Family
This week put a loss in the column for this squad, but still hold the leagues #1 spot with a 7-1 record. This league has 6 playoff spots, with 2 teams getting those bye weeks. I now want to look at the standings and see how I stack up as I begin to play to my record a bit. The #3 & #4 seeds are simply 1 game behind with a 6-2 record, while the number #6 & #7 seed are 4-4, about 100 total points behind. My goal now, from weeks 5-8, will be to separate a bit to create some room between my record and the #3 seed, which will be an absolute focus. During the next few weeks, only week 8 features a team that is currently in the playoff race. My realistic goal will be to work my way to a 15-1 record when I check in again following week 8. I don’t feel like any trades are really in order, as I will continue with my assortment of RB’s on the bench holding 1 extra WR to fill out the byes. When it’s time to pick up a QB, TE, K, or Defense, I’ll simply cut the one I have and pick up the replacement. I currently really believe the only thing that will hurt this team me trading away good pieces or players getting hurt mid game.

The self proclaimed QB factory team is now beginning to take shape; however, in Redraft, it’s important to understand my normal patience can’t happen, so its time to make a move with a 1-3 record. I realize that 8-6 gets to the playoffs, but that means 7-3 is the record I need to get there. I start with my TE of McBride, which beats out most other TEs that the league has; however, my QB’s are ok but not great. I just always have them for my superflex when others have to use excess WR or RBs to fill out their starting lineups. Week 5 has one team with 0 QBs, and with a winning record, it breeds more mediocre play, allowing for worse records to reach the playoffs. I have 3 RB’s that are continuing to get more playing time for the two RB positions. Henderson, Marks, & Javonte seem to be getting better as the weeks go on, with bye weeks being 6, 10, &14. I also have 3 WR right now to start in 2 positions, as well as the two flex, with some good bye week distribution. I’m using Flowers, Pearsall, & Jamo for those spots, so while no superstars, these are players continuing to gain touches as the year goes on. I’m currently using 3 bench spots on RB & WR; however, this number may increase to 4 as my starting QB’s have changed, and other players are using waiver priority for those QB’s while I make position player pickups each week to increase the quality of my backups. I’m still open to trades with my QB depth, however, I’m projected to win each of the next 4 weeks, so I’m going to manage this team very closely and attempt to go 3-1 so I’m 4-4 by the end of week 8. I’ll work the waiver wire and try to stay ahead of the curve on the next best players.
Clown Head Redraft I
This team has a record of 3-1, currently sitting in the #4 spot; however, its 130 points behind the same record in the #2 spot, so need to put up more weekly points. A record of 2-2 does have 2 teams on the outside looking in, so it will take an 8-6 record to get to the postseason here. This squad is trying to maintain while Lamb is out so that the return creates a spark to take the team to the next level. This team has an abundance of TE’s in a league that has 3pt PPR for TE’s, and it starts 2. I will look to get another WR for a TE so that I can get some more depth. I want to go 2-2 over the next 4 weeks and figure by week 9, Lamb will be back, and I should be a bit better. I have 4 starting QB’s for 2 spots, and the team is really built on balance. I’m confident I can get this team to the playoffs; however, to win it will take some things to break correctly, and I could use some more jolt-type players.
