Top MLB Prop Picks 4/8

Luis Castillo MORE Than 5 Strikeouts

Castillo hasn’t been sharp to begin the season. Even with his struggles to keep runs off the board, though, the strikeouts have still been there. He has 12 strikeouts through his first two starts this season and has recorded at least five strikeouts in each of his past four outings. He faces the Blue Jays tonight, who have struggled offensively to begin the season, and they are striking out frequently.

Andrew Heaney MORE Than 4 Strikeouts

In his first start this season, Heaney racked up seven strikeouts in just 4.2 innings. Since becoming a full-time starter in 2018, Heaney has always struck out more than a batter per inning, so as long as he can go four or five innings tonight, we should see him rack up five Ks, which will be enough to win this prop.

Javier Assad MORE Than 3.5 Strikeouts

Assad isn’t necessarily a strikeout pitcher, but he does get some swings and misses. He has at least four strikeouts in his past three starts, including two starts that lasted fewer than four innings. In his first start of the regular season, Assad went six innings and struck out five. Obviously, the longer he is in the game, the more chance he has to rack up strikeouts, so him going the six innings is noteworthy.

Gleyber Torres MORE Than 0.5 Runs

Torres bats lead off in a very good Yankees lineup, with star hitters like Juan Soto and Aaron Judge who bat behind him and can drive him in. Torres also has plenty of opposite-field power, which plays well in Yankee Stadium, so he can drive himself in as well. He faces the Marlins today, who have allowed the second-most runs and third-most hits in MLB.

Spencer Turnbull MORE Than 4 strikeouts

Turnbull was heavily sought after in yesterday’s FAAB bidding in Seasonal fantasy baseball leagues, and for good reason. He is a good pitcher who dealt with injuries over the past couple of seasons, but now he is healthy again and pitching well. He had a strong Spring Training to secure a spot in the Phillies’ rotation, and in his first start this season he went five innings, allowing no earned runs while striking out seven. Although he may not reach seven strikeouts again today, he should go at least five innings and record five Ks.
