QB and RB: Week Four Fantasy Football Waivers

Lou gives his favorite QB/RB waiver wire pick ups for week 4 in fantasy football!

Every week, I will share my favorite waiver wire or free agent pickups in fantasy football. Here is what I have for week four!

QB:

Sam Darnold, Minnesota Vikings

He just keeps getting it done. In one QB leagues, he is still available, but you won’t get another chance to grab him after this week’s big performance against the Texans. He is for real, and the Vikings appear to be for real, too. He threw for 4 TD and now has 8 TD passes through three weeks.

Bo Nix, Denver Broncos

He just had his coming-out party in week three. He took the Broncos on the road and beat a good Bucs team. He threw the ball well (25/36 for 216), ran the ball well (9 for 47), and looked comfortable for the first time in the NFL. He could be good in fantasy, especially in particular matchups.

Andy Dalton, Carolina Panthers

What a difference a change at quarterback makes for an offense. The Panthers offense looked historically bad in the first two weeks of the season, but with Dalton in week three, they not only improved but actually looked good. Dalton threw for 319 yards and 3 TD without turning the ball over. I wouldn’t jump to put him into your starting lineup (although he has a fun revenge narrative game this week against Cincy) but after his week 3 performance, he should be considered now in deeper leagues.

Daniel Jones, New York Giants

I know this sounds crazy because we all know Jones is bad, but he put up good numbers in week three against a solid Browns defense. He can put up points with his rushing ability, which makes him interesting, especially with a matchup vs. the Cowboys on Thursday this week. The Cowboys defense has been terrible the past couple of weeks.

RB:

Bucky Irving, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

He has been the more explosive runner in the offense and should continue to see more touches because of it. Whether you have Rachaad White or not, you want to add Irving immediately. If you don’t roster White, you could even pick up Irving and then trade him to the White owner. Irving averaged 7.8 YPC on 9 carries compared to White’s 2.8 YPC on 6 carries. He now has more rushing yards than White in all 3 games this season.

Chuba Hubbard, Carolina Panthers

With Dalton under center and the Panthers offense actually looking alive, Hubbard suddenly has fantasy value. He had a big game in week three against a pretty good Raiders defense and will continue to be the lead back for at least another few weeks while Jonathan Brooks recovers from his injury. Hubbard had 5 catches for 55 yards and a TD in addition to his 114 yards on the ground.
