With some of the wrestlers having off, there was a bunch of stuff that happened leading to some very fun promos. With RAW back on schedule tonight, you can bet that Creative Souls have an entertaining show for us to watch. That being said, let’s get to this week’s power rankings so we can catch up with some of the stories going on in the world of wrestling, right now. Have a great day everyone and may the slams be with you.
John Cena: John Cena will be facing Cody Rhodes at Summerslam on August 2nd for the WWE Championship. With it being a holiday week, Cena had it easy but with RAW back to its normal schedule, you can bet we will see the Last Real Champ soon enough.
Cody Rhodes: Cody Rhodes has a chance to wrestle Cena at the summer’s biggest party after winning the King of the Ring tournament over Randy Orton. That led to the promo they both put out last week in which Randy gave Cody praise for their match together. That’s when Cody said he’ll make sure he beats Cena at Summerslam, reassuring the Viper and the crowd of his intentions.
Seth “Freakin” Rollins: Seth Rollins came out to inform everyone that he wasn’t going to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase, but more or so, wanted to stir things up. He made it clear both champs are not safe, including Gunther, which Gunther didn’t like. Look for Monday Night Rollins to start the show on Monday as we officially kick off the road to Summerslam.
“Main Event” Jey Uso: Jey Uso didn’t do much last week but he did save Sami Zane and Penta after Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed won their trash match against them. With Jey having to save his family at times, asking with his friends, it leaves Jey in limbo as we approach Summerslam. Normally this all could be handled at Survivor Series, but that’s so far away, I don’t see that happening. Regardless, you can bet that come August 2nd, Jey will have a match. YEET!
Bron Breakker: Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed defeated Sami and Penta as aforementioned. Being part of Seth’s faction, Bron has had so many opportunities to shine that you start to feel that being a goon right now works. I simply love our and my wife and I always smile once Bron’s music his because we both know someone is being jacked up.
C.M. Punk: C.M. Punk enjoyed having a light week but not before shoving Gunther to the mats. After that disrespect, you can bet that Gunther will have a strong comeback but will be buried with Bill Goldberg on the horizon. I don’t think so but I do think either Goldberg or Gunther lose the title at Summerslam to Seth, unless Punk finds a way to stop it.
Gunther: Gunther was faced with multiple people coming at him in the backstage area so he got pissed and did what the Ring General does, by taking it to the ring. After hearing Seth’s words he had some of his own to say before he was met by C.M. Punk. That exchange led to Punk flooring Gunther with a push leaving the World Heavyweight Champion disrespected.
Jacob Fatu: Jacob Fatu was told by Nick Aldis in Smackdown, that he could find a tag team partner of his choosing for his match against Solo Sikoa and J.C. Mateo. So Fatu decided he would turn to a former enemy if they could push their differences aside for this match. That person was none other than Jimmy Uso, who helped Fatu secure the win over Solo and Mateo. In the end, Tala Tonga showed up and put Fatu through a table which could mean the return of the OTC is coming.
L.A. Knight: L.A. Knight did his normal Mega-star stuff by showing up and kicking some tail. This all happened when the Gunther shenanigans were going down as Rollins laughed about what Punk did to the champ. That’s when Knight came out of nowhere and gave Seth a healthy beating before retreating with a smile on his face. YEAH!
Roman Reigns: Roman Reigns remains off of T.V. while Solo’s Bloodline keeps getting stronger every week. That’s why this week you would think Roman would be back but I can see the WWE holding this back from us for another week. My theory is now that Solo’s Bloodline is much stronger, Fatu and Jimmy are outnumbered. With Jey being caught up in so many stories at the moment, it makes sense that Roman comes back now and makes this a triple-threat match at Summerslam.
