Today is the last day of April, the end of the first full month of MLB. So here is my pick for every team’s April MVP:
Baltimore Orioles – OF Cedric Mullins

He is a free agent at the end of the season and has gotten off to a hot start in his walk year. He has been the Orioles best hitter and plays an elite CF.
Boston Red Sox – SP Garrett Crochet
Mar 27, 2025; Arlington, Texas, USA; Boston Red Sox pitcher Garrett Crochet (35) throws a pitch in the first inning against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field. Mandatory Credit: Tim Heitman-Imagn Images
Crochet has been everything the Red Sox were hoping for when they traded for him. He is a true ace and gives them a chance to win every time he takes the mound.
New York Yankees – OF Aaron Judge
Mar 27, 2025; Bronx, New York, USA; New York Yankees right fielder Aaron Judge (99) follows through on an RBI double against the Milwaukee Brewers during the seventh inning at Yankee Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Brad Penner-Imagn Images
This one is fairly obvious. Max Fried is having a great year, but Judge has been insanely good to begin the season.
Tampa Bay Rays – 1B Jonathan Aranda
Apr 5, 2025; Arlington, Texas, USA; Tampa Bay Rays first baseman Jonathan Aranda (62) hits a two-run home run during the sixth inning against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field. Mandatory Credit: Kevin Jairaj-Imagn Images
Aranda is hitting for surprising power, but it’s his average and OBP numbers that jump off the page so far.
Toronto Blue Jays – OF George Springer
TORONTO, ON – SEPTEMBER 28: George Springer #4 of Toronto Blue Jays hits a single against the Miami Marlins during the third inning in their MLB game at the Rogers Centre on September 28, 2024 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. (Photo by Mark Blinch/Getty Images)
Springer had a down season a year ago, and although the HR numbers arent there yet, his average and OBP are the best on his team.
Chicago White Sox – 2B Brooks Baldwin
Apr 1, 2025; Chicago, Illinois, USA; Chicago White Sox shortstop Brooks Baldwin (27) hits a sacrifice fly RBI during the fourth inning against the Minnesota Twins at Guaranteed Rate Field. Mandatory Credit: Matt Marton-Imagn Images
The White Sox are a really bad team, with not much good to speak of. Baldwin has had a solid month, though and by process of elimination, he is their April MVP.
Cleveland Guardians – OF Steven Kwan
CLEVELAND, OHIO – APRIL 10: Steven Kwan #38 of the Cleveland Guardians hits a solo home run during the fifth inning against the Chicago White Sox at Progressive Field on April 10, 2024 in Cleveland, Ohio. (Photo by Jason Miller/Getty Images)
By season’s end, Jose Ramirez will likely be the team’s MVP, but through a month of the season, it’s Kwan. He is an on-base machine, swipes bags, and has hit for power.
Detroit Tigers – 1B Spencer Torkelson
Mar 27, 2025; Los Angeles, California, USA; Detroit Tigers first base Spencer Torkelson (20) reacts after hitting a solo home run against the Los Angeles Dodgers during the seventh inning at Dodger Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Jayne Kamin-Oncea-Imagn Images
I could have easily gone with Skubal or Mize here, and although Tork has slowed down a bit, his offensive production in April has been outstanding.
Kansas City Royals – SP Kris Bubic
Apr 11, 2025; Cleveland, Ohio, USA; Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Kris Bubic (50) delivers a pitch in the second inning against the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field. Mandatory Credit: David Richard-Imagn Images
Bubic has had an incredible month. I am not sure if he can keep up this success all season long, but right now, he is leading this Royals starting rotation.
Minnesota Twins – SP Pablo Lopez
Apr 25, 2025; Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA; Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Pablo Lopez (49) delivers a pitch against the Los Angeles Angels during the first inning at Target Field. Mandatory Credit: Matt Krohn-Imagn Images
Lopez has been great for the Twins. If they could just generate offense more consistently, they wouldn’t be such a horrible team.
Athletics – 1B/OF Tyler Soderstrom
Mar 27, 2025; Seattle, Washington, USA; Athletics first baseman Tyler Soderstrom (21) celebrates while running the bases after hitting a solo-home run against the Seattle Mariners during the eighth inning at T-Mobile Park. Mandatory Credit: Joe Nicholson-Imagn Images
Soderstrom is ripping the baseball. He has been a pleasant surprise so far this season, as have most of the A’s.
Houston Astros – SP Hunter Brown

Brown has become the staff ace for the Astros and is an early Cy Young candidate.
Los Angeles Angels – OF Mike Trout
ANAHEIM, CA – JULY 2: Mike Trout #27 of the Los Angeles Angels bats during the game against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Angel Stadium of Anaheim on July 2, 2023 in Anaheim, California. The Angels defeated the Diamondbacks 5-2. (Photo by Rob Leiter/MLB Photos via Getty Images)
The batting average is still low, but Trout is driving the baseball and leads the team in most of the important batting stats.
Seattle Mariners – 3B/DH Jorge Polanco
Mar 29, 2025; Seattle, Washington, USA; Seattle Mariners third baseman Jorge Polanco (7) hits an RBI-single against the Athletics during the sixth inning at T-Mobile Park. Mandatory Credit: Joe Nicholson-Imagn Images
Cal Raleigh was another option for me here because of his big HR total, but Polanco has put together an incredible month with eye popping numbers.
Texas Rangers – SP Tyler Mahle
ARLINGTON, TEXAS – AUGUST 06: Tyler Mahle #51 of the Texas Rangers throws a pitch against the Houston Astros in the first inning at Globe Life Field on August 06, 2024 in Arlington, Texas. (Photo by Tim Heitman/Getty Images)
He has been the Rangers best SP through the first month and has given them production that they weren’t counting on.
Atlanta Braves – SP Spencer Schwellenbach
ATLANTA, GA – MAY 29: Spencer Schwellenbach #56 of the Atlanta Braves stands on the field before throwing the first pitch during his MLB debut against the Washington Nationals at Truist Park on May 29, 2024 in Atlanta, Georgia. (Photo by Kevin D. Liles/Atlanta Braves/Getty Images)
A lot has gone wrong for the Braves in April, but Schwellenbach isn’t one of those things. He has been their ace while Sale has been inconsistent and Strider is hurt again.
Miami Marlins – SP Max Meyer
Apr 4, 2025; Atlanta, Georgia, USA; Miami Marlins starting pitcher Max Meyer (23) throws against the Atlanta Braves in the first inning at Truist Park. Mandatory Credit: Brett Davis-Imagn Images
His latest outing didn’t go so well, but overall, Meyer is having a tremendous start to the season. Another player in consideration was Matt Mervis.
New York Mets – 1B Pete Alonso
Apr 2, 2025; Miami, Florida, USA; New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso (20) hits a three-run home run against the Miami Marlins during the eighth inning at loanDepot Park. Mandatory Credit: Sam Navarro-Imagn Images
Alonso has been the Mets most productive hitter so far this season. Although it’s likely that Lindor or Soto will end the year as the best, so far it’s clearly the Polar Bear.
Philadelphia Phillies – SP Jesus Luzardo
Mar 29, 2025; Washington, District of Columbia, USA; Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Jesus Luzardo (44) throws a pitch during the first inning against the Washington Nationals at Nationals Park. Mandatory Credit: Reggie Hildred-Imagn Images
He has been outstanding for the Phillies and their best SP. This is saying a lot considering they also have Wheeler and Nola.
Washington Nationals – OF James Wood

He has power, he has speed, and he is leading a young Nationals lineup.
Chicago Cubs – OF Kyle Tucker

At first I was thinking about Carson Kelly who had an amazing April, but when you really compare stats and look at the big picture, Tucker is the best player on the Cubs.
Cincinnati Reds – SS Elly De La Cruz
NEW YORK, NEW YORK – SEPTEMBER 17: (NEW YORK DAILIES OUT) Elly De La Cruz #44 of the Cincinnati Reds in action against the New York Mets at Citi Field on September 17, 2023 in New York City. The Mets defeated the Reds 8-4. (Photo by Jim McIsaac/Getty Images)
This was actually one of the hardest teams to pick. I easily could have gone with Hunter Greene or Nick Lodolo, but Elly is my choice because, unlike the pitchers, he plays every day and is one of the most dynamic players in the league.
Milwaukee Brewers – OF Jackson Chourio
GOODYEAR, ARIZONA – MARCH 06: Jackson Chourio #11 of the Milwaukee Brewers celebrates with teammates after scoring a run in the first inning during a spring training game against the Cincinnati Reds at Goodyear Ballpark on March 06, 2024 in Goodyear, Arizona. (Photo by Aaron Doster/Getty Images)
He is simply a delight to watch. Chourio is having an excellent season and is the clear offensive MVP for the Brewers. None of their SPs really stand out except for Jose Quintana, but Quintana missed half of April.
Pittsburgh Pirates – OF Oneil Cruz
NEW YORK, NEW YORK – SEPTEMBER 18: Oneil Cruz #15 of the Pittsburgh Pirates watches his home run in the top of the sixth inning off Jacob deGrom #48 of the New York Mets at Citi Field on September 18, 2022 in New York City. (Photo by Michael Urakami/Getty Images)
He has really taken his game to the next level so far this season and is not just the Pirates MVP so far, but has been one of the most productive players in the National League.
St. Louis Cardinals – 2B Brendan Donovan
Mar 30, 2025; St. Louis, Missouri, USA; St. Louis Cardinals infielder Brendan Donovan (33) breaks his bat as he singled to centerfield in the third inning against the Minnesota Twins at Busch Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Tim Vizer-Imagn Images
Donovan has been the most consistent player for the Cardinals this season and there is no telling how bad they might be if he wasn’t in their lineup.
Arizona Diamondbacks – OF Corbin Carroll
NEW YORK, NEW YORK – MAY 30: Corbin Carroll #7 of the Arizona Diamondbacks in action against the New York Mets at Citi Field on May 30, 2024 in New York City. The Mets defeated the Diamondbacks 3-2. (Photo by Jim McIsaac/Getty Images)
Many people could make a case for Eugenio Suarez here, but Suarez has done a lot of his damage in a few games, while Carroll is contributing every single night.
Colorado Rockies – OF Brenton Doyle
Apr 8, 2025; Denver, Colorado, USA; Colorado Rockies center fielder Brenton Doyle (9) rounds the bases on a solo home run in the third inning against the Milwaukee Brewers at Coors Field. Mandatory Credit: Isaiah J. Downing-Imagn Images
Like the White Sox, there isn’t much good going on for the Rockies. Rookie Jordan Beck has brought some optimism, but he hasn’t been playing until recently. Doyle is having a decent year and is the Rockies most complete player right now.
San Diego Padres – OF Fernando Tatis Jr.
Mar 28, 2025; San Diego, California, USA; San Diego Padres right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr. (23) looks skyward after hitting a solo home run during first inning against the Atlanta Braves at Petco Park. Mandatory Credit: Denis Poroy-Imagn Images
Michael King has been great, but Tatis Jr. has been at another level so far in April. If he can remain healthy all season, there is no telling just how good he could be.
San Francisco Giants – SP Logan Webb
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA – APRIL 13: Logan Webb #62 of the San Francisco Giants reacts after he struck out Trent Grisham #2 of the San Diego Padres to end the eighth inning at Oracle Park on April 13, 2022 in San Francisco, California. (Photo by Ezra Shaw/Getty Images)
Webb is a legitimate ace in MLB and is leading a Giants team that has been one of the best in baseball so far.
Los Angeles Dodgers – SP Yoshinobu Yamamoto
Apr 18, 2025; Arlington, Texas, USA; Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto (18) throws a pitch during the first inning against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field. Mandatory Credit: Tim Heitman-Imagn Images
Yamamoto looks to have taken another step this year after an up-and-down rookie season. He is the Dodgers best pitcher, and they need him with injuries to Glasnow and Snell.
