Hitters
*78% 2B Kyren Paris, Los Angeles Angels- One of the hottest hitters in baseball currently. Definitely playing over his head, but his great plate discipline should cushion the fall back to Earth. Even when he does, he could still be really good, so he needs to be added everywhere.
*77% 1B Ben Rice, New York Yankees- Needs to be owned everywhere. Elite hitter despite high K rate.
72% OF Sal Frelick, Milwaukee Brewers- Isn’t showing any gains in power yet, but still has a good hit tool and great speed.
*62% 1B Nick Kurtz, Oakland Athletics- Impressive prospect who had a great spring and could be called up soon.
*61% 2B Jorge Polanco, Seattle Mariners- Should be owned everywhere. It would be great all year if he could stay healthy (a big if).
56% 3B, SS, OF Zach McKinstry, Detroit Tigers- Phenomenal triple positional eligibility and has been great so far. Peripherals show nothing amazing, but he is exhibiting great plate discipline.
52% OF Trent Grisham, New York Yankees- Hitting very well so far this year with great peripherals. Playing time is a concern, unfortunately.
48% 1B, OF Gavin Sheets, San Diego Padres- Pretty good so far, but needs to improve his plate discipline. Plays most of the time but not all the time.
45% OF Mike Yastrzemski, San Francisco Giants- Awesome start to the season and hitting leadoff now.
32% 1B Ty France, Minnesota Twins- A sneaky good hitter who is playing every day. Could be a difference maker in mid to deep leagues and is widely available.
27% OF Alek Thomas, Arizona Diamondbacks—He has been cold lately, but it looks like he could just need the opportunity this year to break out. It remains to be seen if Arizona will give him a long enough leash to do so.
Pitchers
76% SP Jordan Hicks, San Francisco Giants- I would hold for now despite his awful last start. He still has good stuff, and it might be worth seeing how he does in his next one (but on your bench).
*74% RP Jose Alvarado, Philadelphia Phillies- It surprised me that Alvarado is not owned in even more leagues. He needs to be owned everywhere as he has elite stuff and is currently closing. If he keeps the role, he could be one of the best closers in the game this season.
73% SP Matthew Boyd, Chicago Cubs- Solid so far. His next start could tell us whether he’ll be anything more than that this year for fantasy owners. His fastball velocity is actually higher than ever, though still only 93 mph.
61% SP AJ Smith-Shawver, Atlanta Braves- Same as Hicks. Might be worth holding for now (on the bench), especially in deeper formats.
67% RP Luke Jackson, Texas Rangers- Might blow up at some point, but is worth owning for now. He is the current closer for Texas and has yet to blow a save, but understand that he appears to be playing over his head right now.
62% SP Zebby Matthews, Minnesota Twins- A good pitching prospect who showed great stuff this Spring and so far in the minors. Could reportedly get the call soon.
62% SP Andrew Heaney, Pittsburgh Pirates- Pitching pretty well so far and could be pretty good for owners if he can keep the walks down.
*55% Hayden Wesneski, Houston Astros- Has been great over two starts and is getting a lot of swings and misses. It would be very good if he could keep it up.
50% SP Easton Lucas, Toronto Blue Jays- Showing good stuff and is worth the scoop in case it continues.
48% SP Will Warren, New York Yankees- Has done well so far, but remains a risky option as he is still figuring it all out. Has yet to go over 5 innings in a start.
47% SP Andre Pallante, St. Louis Cardinals- Deceivingly good pitcher due to his absurdly high groundball rate. It could help owners rack up wins without sacrificing too much in the way of ratio.
47% SP Shane Smith, Chicago White Sox- Had a great second start and has some decent stuff. Might be worth snagging in deeper leagues despite the terrible team.
33% RP Emilio Pagan, Cincinnati Reds- Now has 3 saves under his belt and is worth owning in case Alexis Diaz isn’t able to make a successful return.
15% SP J.T. Ginn, Oakland Athletics- An intriguing pitching prospect who had a great first start.
