Brian Robinson Jr is having a great sophomore season so far. He is currently ranked at RB8 in PPR scoring through the first four weeks of the NFL season. It has been a long, hard road for Robinson to get here, so let’s dive into who he is and how he got to this point.

Brian Robinson Fantasy Football Profile

Robinson committed to the University of Alabama in the Spring of 2017. The Tuscaloosa native was buried on the Tide’s depth chart for years behind future NFL running backs. Some of the running backs ahead of him on the depth chart were future NFL starters Najee Harris and Damien Harris. He did not transfer or complain; instead, he studied what the older, more experienced players were doing so that when the opportunity came, he would be ready.

Robinson is more of a traditional between-the-tackles running back. He is 6’2” and 225 pounds, and he runs with good power and vision for his size. In his one season as a starter at Alabama he started all 13 games and finished the season with 248 carries for 1,268 yards, 32 receptions for 268 receiving yards, and 16 total touchdowns. He built enough value for himself in his one season as a starter to be a Day 2 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. The Washington Commanders liked what they saw in that one season at Alabama that they picked him in Round 3 with the 98th overall pick. What would happen next to the young man would turn all his excitement into a fight for his life and career.

Robinson was reportedly having a great training camp and had taken over the starting running back job as a rookie. All signs were pointing to him having a great rookie season and being in the running for Rookie of the Year. Then one night, Robinson was carjacked in Washington D.C. This moment had the potential to change his life as a football player forever. He was shot twice in the right leg in a scary moment, to say the least, for him and the Commanders. Luckily, there was no major damage done to the leg, and Robinson was able to come back to the team six weeks later. He was then able to practice and work his way back into shape. That year, he was able to rush for 797 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games. This was a potential tragedy that turned into a positive story for Robinson, the community, and the NFL.

Brian Robinson Rest Of Season Fantasy Football Outlook

Now, with all of that behind him, he was able to have a normal offseason this year. This is also an offseason where Head Coach Ron Rivera made a change at Offensive Coordinator, bringing in Eric Bieniemy from the Kansas City Chiefs. Both Rivera and Bieniemy want the offense to be more dynamic and explosive this season, and it looks like Robinson is going to be a big part of that plan. The Crimson Tide product seems to be primedo great sophomore season in the NFL. Defenses thought they had issues stopping a less than 100% Robinson last year. Just wait and see what a fully healthy Robinson can do in this new offense.

Robinson has looked really good through the first four weeks of the season so far. He is more explosive than last year, and he is running with good power and balance. So, after the first four weeks of the season, Robinson has 61 carries for 261 rushing yards, five receptions on seven targets for 55 yards, and four total touchdowns. That puts him at the RB8 in PPR fantasy leagues currently, and I believe he has a large enough role in the offense and the skills to finish the season as a top-ten fantasy running back in PPR scoring this season.
